How possible would it be to create a Call of Duty Zombies experience in DnD? I've been figuratively thinking about the concept for quite some time now, given how peculiar and strange the lore can get for that franchise, I was thinking of making a campaign set in the "Zombies" franchise, though unsure how I would go about doing such things. And I slightly hope though very unlikely to ever happen, a Official "Call of Duty Zombies" Book Experience to be happening at some point or another, though that's wishful thinking on something that most likely will never come. Wanted to ask the community if it's at all possible to make a Zombies experience for a small group of players.
I would like to keep it DnD themed though I would like to take some things from the "Zombies" experience, wondering if the community has any ideas as to how one would go about doing this idea.
If you're looking for zombie apocalypse thing - easily done. There's statblocks, so just set up the one shot: players in a base during zombie apocalypse and need to survive the waves. Simples.
As in actual modern-warfare with guns and stuff? No. Or at least possible with way too much homebrewing, ignoring everything that makes D&D, well D&D and basically butcher the rules to make something that isn't D&D in any way shape or form. By which point it'd be simpler to just use one of the many other game systems out there more suited for such things.

Well, a campaign set during the apocalypse though with a special play on how things are occurring. In a dnd setting, with Aetherium Zombies, could maybe do something with Delerium in mind and flavor it to work like the crystals and Element 115 seen in the game.
If you wanna do a campaign set in the zombies universe, I honestly think that's pretty kickass. But you shouldn't use D&D to run it. There are plenty of other systems that would work better for it.
As a one shot, the Dread system would fit really well I think.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
For "the party kills an arbitrary number of zombies", the basic system works fine. For a proper survival-horror experience, D&D isn't the best system. There's too many low level spells that cover all the basics of survival, the relative "PC to enemy strength" formula means your typical zombie is cannon fodder rather than a notable threat, and while there's a few optional rules in the DMG for stuff like a sanity stat and horror conditions, the core chassis just isn't oriented on that point. It's not unworkable, but it's gonna involve a lot of extra DM fiddling and trial and error to really get into a larger scale zombie apocalypse theme.
Also need to configurate the mimics, disciples, megatons, manglers, abominations... Megatons would probably be easy to implement, since their just big glow-y zombies that when killed, separate into two lesser forms. disciples float about and have vampiric touch, might be a bit difficult to implement into dnd combat, but I can configure it to work one way or another. Would like to bring the "zombies" experience one way or another, maybe after players get enough "points" they can spend it on upgrading their weapons into +# variants, as a way to configure the "Pack-A-Punch".... The sodas/demons' blood system for special feats would be the most difficult though.
Smol edit, could probably give the Megaton a Delerium style bolt, but colored green. Could do that.

There is a Zombie Apocalypse setting in Van Richten’s Guide. Falkovnia, I think. Might be worth a look.
