I'm using a Roll20 character sheet for the first time, have added and prepared all my spells, but can't figure out how to cast a spell at a higher level to do more damage using the character sheet interface.
On the 'Core' part of the sheet there is a box called, 'attacks and spellcasting' which lists only SOME of my spells. These have a pop-up when clicked on that asks you what level you would like to cast the spell at? So that's good. But only a small fraction of my spells show in this box.
On the 'Spells' part of the sheet, ALL the spells are listed and ones marked as prepared can be cast by clicking on them, but there is no option to cast a spell (which can be cast) at a higher level.
Is there any way to get the spells listed on the 'Spells' part of the page to give you that 'what level would you like to cast at?' pop-up?
Or iss there any way to have ALL your prepared spells show up (I guess with a scrollbar) on the 'Core' part of the page where the pop-up works?
I've looked all over and not found a complete answer to this, although it seems to be a common question... any help appreciated!
When you open the Spell Card and click the i the spell description window drops and there is a gear. Click on the gear and you'll see a spot for "higher level cast damage" and there's a space for the healing/damage die and modifier. If there's nothing there then the prompt for spell level won't show up. If there is, then it doesn't matter if you click from your "Core" or "Spells" tab the prompt will display. All of this is done automatically for me when I drag the spell from the compendium. If it's a spell not in the compendium then you have to do all this yourself.
Examples:
Bless has the Spellcard output. So you click on it and no prompt will appear.
Healing Word has the Attack output and has Healing: 1 d4 + 0. With a Higher lvl cast dmg of 1 d4 + 0.
You then manually change the spell slot counter unless you're using an API that tracks spell slots.
I was using the Beyond20 extension for a couple of games but the DM isn't very experienced with it and to make it easier on him I decided to recreate my character in Roll20. As it turned out, I ended up having two versions of the same character in the game, from different places. This caused a glitch. Once he removed the old character, and I deleted/re-dragged my spells from the compendium for the new Roll20 character, I could cast spells from the Roll20 main spell page with upscaling. When I click the spell a pop-up opens asking what level I want to cast it at, so they do support it. Had to re-add a zillion spells... but it is fixed now.
Yeah, probably shouldn't have posted on here, just figured a lot of people use this site to join up and then end up on the Roll20 VTT. Your info is useful if I ever have to add a spell myself though - thanks!
