This has been something that's been bugging me for a while and I figured I should bring it up here to hear other folk's perspectives on this.
On the Bond section for the Outlander background, almost all of the options there are about earning glory, ties to the character's tribe, a reverence towards nature and revenge. But there is one that stands out and just feels weird to me.
Quote: "It is my duty to provide children to sustain my tribe."
Am I the only one that finds this one weird? Like the others I mentioned I can understand easily and feel appropriate but the last one feels out of place at best.
Many tribes are small and are in harsh environments, and many members of the tribe die young facing the wilds.
There is the risk of the tribe dissappearing or birth issues due to constant endogamy, so childs need to born constantly in order to the tribe to survive, and the need of external members to have enough gene diversity.
Some members to the tribe could see this as a duty, adventuring to search an appropiate mate to introduce to the tribe.
I know this bond could rise many issues depending on how is developed. But I find it an appropiate one given the circumstances.
Procreation is key to survival, and particularly in small communities with limited inflow of newcomers having healthy and numerous offspring is a big deal. It may feel awkward as a directive in the context of this game, sure, but it's not really out of place.

It is even an instinct common to many very real young men from smaller and larger communities too, 'outlander' or not and difficult enough for real people to sort out. It is the kind of personality trait that is likely best not explored in most campaigns.... There are behaviours arguably worse than being murderhobos....
You can talk to the player about how they are going to behave in regard of that bond.
You can(and should) always say "NO" when someone steps the line.

Honestly, anything that says "I will do anything to..." or "I will bring terrible wrath down on..." or "... whatever it takes..." might be cause for a quick chat to see everyone's on the same page about what "anything", "terrible wrath" and "whatever" could in practice come down to.

Another interpretation of this could be bringing actual children back to the tribe, instead of finding a mate to bear your children. Not necessarily better but still another way of looking at it.

It all depends on how that bond is managed.

I was wondering if "sustain" was meant as procreation or as food... Thanks for clarification.
