I'm trying to create a custom attack for a custom race.
Essentially I want to create a bite attack ( no problem there ), but I'd like to add a secondary damage type - an optional, limited ability, poison damage component.
I created a "Bite Racial Trait", and added an Action ( attack type ).
I also attempted to add a Poison Damage modifier to the "racial trait" - no dice.
I do not see a way of adding a second type of damage to the one attack.
Currently - as a work around - I have the poison damage set as a second attack. However, I can't not associate a statistic to it, so sometimes poison damage goes up with high constitution scores. I'd like the damage to be a straight optional addition to the primary damage, regardless of scores: Basic bite damage can scale with Strength or Dexterity, but I'd like the "poison overlay" to be statistic independent.

Further work around: kept the Poison as as a separate attack, with limited use ( 3x / Long Rest ), but set "display as attack" to no, and the one player with a character of this race just made a customization note to their bite attack that they can optionally can add 1d4 poison damage, 3x / Long rest.
The "check off track" still shows the poison under possible actions, but it's not listed as a separate attack under attacks.

Any ideas?
