I'm starting a campaign as a first-time LoreMaster next week, and have a question.
If one of my player-heroes is reduced to 0 hit points, I know they can be stabilized with a successful medicine check, which just means that they are unconscious and don't have to do death saves. However, is there a way to get them to 1 hit point?
A level-two scholar has healing, but my characters will all be level one. There don't seem to be healing potions in this universe. and herbalism kits and healing kits seem to just improve medicine checks, not actually heal. And don't you need at least one hit point to benefit from the healing power of a rest?
I know I could make up something regarding an NPC with healing power, or finding some Kingsfoil/Athelas. But am I missing something?
A stable creature doesn’t make death saving throws, even though it has 0 hit points, but it does remain unconscious. The creature stops being stable, and must start making death saving throws again, if it takes any damage. A stable creature that isn’t healed regains 1 hit point after 1d4 hours.
For clarity, this is under 2014 PHB rules, since that's what the LotR book would have worked from when written
That's probably the correct answer, but might be different. The best place to ask these questions is probably on the unofficial Discord server for LotRRP/TOR. It's very active and if you have a question like this, you can get a definitive answer from people who play and possibly within minutes - DDB has a very small number of people who play it and so won't have the same resources. Here's an LotRRP/TOR Discord invite link.
If you don't have or want Discord, then the official forum for LotRRP could help, but it's less well frequented so it might take a little longer to get an answer. It's more likely to get an actual answer than here though.
If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Thanks! That works for me.

Thanks so much! I have discord, and this is perfect. Appreciate the invite link. Tons of resources and discussions there.
