I saw on some DDB and WotC websites that Monster Manual early access starts today for some people. Does anyone know the details on who gets early access?
It usually goes live based on West Coast of the US time, so sometime during business hours on the 4th there. It's currently 6am for them so a fair few hours to go yet
Just started looking through the new Monster Manual. Do creatures from this book get to use Weapon Mastery properties?
Haven't looked through myself, but if they did I'm sure it would state it specifically in the stat-block. So "no" unless stated otherwise.
I do know a lot of the monsters were upgraded so that "on-hit" effects just happen now, without a separate saving throw. So that's kind of a built-in weapon mastery anyway.
Am i just blind, or does the book not list a way to calc CR??
Correct. The 2024 DM Guide / Monster Manual does not offer much guidance on homebrewing monsters any more. The DM Guide has a very very brief mention that pretty much amounts to "re-skin" an existing monster. But that's about it unfortunately.
I live in hope that WotC will produce a little guide one day...

a search of ‘mastery’ yields nothing, which seems like an oversite considering the number of intelligent creatures wielding weapons.

If they say they do.
