I recently learned about D&D VTT and I'm hyped but, I have a problem: I have been playing with the 2014 rulebook for a long time, I'm quite happy with it. Does D&D VTT supports the 2014 rulebook? I just purchased the suscription and the phrase "2024 rulebook" is all over the place, I'm kinda scared.
I'm fairly certain the VTT supports whatever rulebooks you have purchased. Outside of some slight changes that the free rules would also add, I don't see where there would be any real issues if you chose not to buy into any of the 2024 content.

Oh, so the Marketplace inside the "engine" of the VTT is for that! So I have to buy the 2014 Player's Handbook in order to let the "engine have it's contents"? Is that the reason why I can't create a Drow?

Thanks for your time.
The only way Maps VTT interacts with the rules in a way that is specific to 2014 vs 2024 is the Encounter Difficulty calculation you see when putting together an encounter on a map. This is based on the 2024 encounter building rules, not 2014.
Otherwise Maps VTT is just that, a virtual tabletop. You can add tokens for any monsters you own to the map, and view their stat blocks. There is no "engine" involved.
Ok, I get it. I've been dealing with another problem, I hope you can help me. The VTT as it is doesn't have the option to make a Drow from the 2014 core rules so I took an "Elf Drow" from the browse list of people creations to add one. My character is ready now but I can't choose him to play in a session, and I don't know why. Thanks.

You don't make characters inside the VTT, you make it using the Character Builder.

Are you talking about Sigil (a 3D VTT that you run using a program you download to your computer) or Maps (a 2D VTT that runs in a web browser)?
Good day.

I don't know what happened, I just created another Drow and I can choose it now. So... No idea. Thanks Davyd.
I'm talking about maps, Sigil is out of my mind right now. How does Sigil work? 2024 Core?
