For anyone who hasn't been following them the Dungeon Dudes just launched the Kickstarter for their third Drakkenheim book, this time a monster manual. The interesting thing is that they've already said that it'll be available on DDB and included a DDB copy as one of the backing tiers. So that's the first time we've had advance notice of a third party book coming here. There's also a confirmation on their Discord that their second book, Sebastian Crowe's Guide to Drakkenheim, is being worked on but is being held up by the fact it has a third party class rather than just subclasses.
Is there any idea when it might be available? I am going to start a DoD campaign and using the Apothecary would be amazing.
The Monster Manual hasn’t even finished Kickstarter yet so that’ll be some way off. As for the other book it’s apparently the Apothecary that’s the problem, it’s the first time (apart from the Blood Hunter) that DDB would be adding a non-official third party class and they’re either reluctant to cross that line or it’s requiring a lot more coding than adding subclasses or races would. The fact classes are the only thing we can’t homebrew makes me think there’s an awful lot that goes on behind the scenes to make them work
I love seeing this integrated into DnDBeyond. Their YouTube channel did so much to pull me into 5e after 4e just did not appeal. The Apothecary seems to fill a hole in player options that I had hoped the Artificer would when it was announced.
That's awesome, would love to see more Grimhallow make its way over as well. WotC understanding that partnering with the most popular third parties is better than pushing them out is way over due.
Just a heads up for anyone on this thread, the Sebastian Crowe subclasses were recently removed from the homebrew section on DND beyond
If they were on the homebrew section of DDB, then those subclasses should never have been published. It’s copyrighted material, after all — sharing the content publicly through the homebrew system is a process akin to piracy.

I think there is parts in "user generated conten"t and rules for "using dnd beyond" from terms and conditions explain this part and give wotc remove copyright protected content by wish of original owner or by own will, it's a straight piracy to share it and ddb is not a proper platform though which to obtain or publish those type of dnd content
though even some licensed third party publishers creations wouldn't pass on public pages of dnd beyond homebrew (if those publishers was just users) because of how strict ddb is about content similarities

I think it's more they knew they'd be adding subclasses quite often and so made it very easy to just slot things in. Classes are much rarer so they probably made the coding simpler...but harder to just slot things in without breaking half a dozen other things.

now their is the LOTR expansion which adds 6 classes I think they are just being unfair or GhostFire is giving them problems
It's a very big stretch to assume that because Free League now has content on DDB, the relationship with Ghostfire Gaming and the Dungeon Dudes has been soured, not to mention extreme speculation when you know zero details.

Considering both Ghostfire and the Dungeon Dudes have both got kickstarters currently going through with D&D Beyond copies already confirmed it’s definitely a big stretch
Any updates on this? I'm considering running Drakkenheim, but I'd want to decide one whether I'd get this on DDB or PDF first.

The latest I know of (based on things said on the Dungeon Dudes discord) is that the Monsters of Drakkenheim Kickstarter is due for fulfillment In late summer so they're hoping that it gets added to D&D Beyond around then (I've got the alpha pdf, its a great book) and they'd love to get the second book Sebastian Crowe's Guide to Drakkenheim added as well but they've not heard anything back from DDB so no news there. I know logically that DDB has limited resources and other publishers besides Ghostfire deserve a chance to boost their exposure but when I'm running two Drakkenheim campaigns I just want my stuff now lol
Would you mind if I pick your brains a little on Drakkenheim? I could either start a thread or DM you (your choice) to avoid derailing this one.

It's finally out! Man, this book is PACKED with great content! The artwork, the descriptions, everything! Really hoping the Sebastian's Guide book makes it to DNDB, and bring the Apothecary class with it!
I'm less hopeful about Sebastian's one - it's just been so long that I think it's just been forgotten. Apparently they're going to do a Veo book (makes sense!), and I imagine that will come on DDB straightaway too.
But yes, Pluto's book is really awesome. Tons of help for making your own campaign and using their monsters.

Given how the devs seemingly refuse to make new classes readily available(The Full Valda's not being released despite the willingness of Mage Hand Press, Heliana's being split into less & more customizable halves w/the more customizable half in limbo, taking forever on Illrigger, no Homebrew Classes, etc) due to Third-party devs being able to break the mold w/no budgetary restrictions by bean counters, I think The Apothecary would give a Hasbro accountant a heart attack with its customization & not being standardized in format, & thus costing time, money & manpower to implement that BlackRock & The Vanguard Group won't let devs spare allegedly endless infinite upward growth & profit on.
The less "formulaic" a class is, the less likely it's going to show up on Beyond, as proven with decisions so far by corporate regarding 3rd-party classes.

Our group already has SC's guide to Drakkenheim on the way.
I think?
