So back when I started playing D&D (3.5) I really enjoyed making characters that utilized the underused (at least in my group of friends) mechanics of the game. One of them was a fighter that was a senile fisherman that only used tridents and battlenets in combat. Now that I've happily hopped on the D&D beyond bandwagon I've been porting my old characters I made back then onto the site and strangly enough the one I've had the most difficultly bringing was this fisherman. I've looked around a bit on some other forums where people recommended dual classing rouge/barb which is not entirely what I'm looking for mainly due to that being more focused on burst damage. What I'm more hoping for is a rain of tridents worthy of Poseidon's praise. 11th level Eldritch Knight is worth mentioning with it's Weapon Bound feature (3 attacks per turn, 1 trident in each hand summon the third as bonus action) it does feel like I would not be as affective however based on how I want to play this character though since I wouldn't be casting any spells due to the lack of trident output. As for a Hexblade with Pact of the Blade I feel like there's probably something there but I can't seem to find it, whatever it may be.
TL;DR I need ideas how to make a character that specializes in throwing as many tridents as possible viable for a 5e game without being a huge burden to the rest of the party.
