I have been in a bit of a mood for this one nostalgic game called Dark Cloud 2, and have decided to put this up for discussion:
How would you make Maximilian in DnD 5e?
The goals would be to have him proficient with Two Weapon Fighting with a Battle Wrench and a gun, have him somewhat acrobatic enough to do backflips to dodge, strong enough to chuck enemies and boulders, be an inventor that can craft weapons and items, be able to upgrade said weapons, and have a mechanical friend on standby to ride in and punch/shoot things with. Time Travel is optional.
I ask this primarily for Max, but I'd love to see builds for other characters in Dark Cloud 2.
I personally think that custom Clown monsters would be awesome. I want to run a campaign heavily inspired by Dark Chronicle/Dark Cloud 2, but I need Clowns for my traveling circus. No one has made stats for a Dark Cloud Clown so I may have to concoct one myself. :/ I highly recommend finding weapons that are similar to the wrench and gun and reskinning or tweaking them if you are feeling crafty. May also wanna give Max proficiency in acrobatics and give his wrench finesse so he can attack using mostly Dex since he is a kid and you might now want his strength to be super high. (That is if you are using the standard 6 Those are just ideas though! I am fairly new to DnD so my ideas may sound crappy to experienced players and dms. :/
Fighter, Gunslinger multiclassed with artificer might be something to start with. If you go with battlemaster then you can use for int for the attack mod and ignore strength. The Steel Defender could be something of a surrogate for the mech.
