The new UA artificer subclass looks really cool, and I hope it becomes official, unlike some other UAs
Edit:to those commenting "yeah now I can be iron man",yeah,I thought of that too,but the idea of a modable exosuit is something that can be really cool! Like a solder who lost his leg in a war,but made himself a new one that can shoot magic missiles,or someone was born paralyzed, but can now move thanks to this armor,or a warforged who is constantly upgrading itself.
Well, those "some other UAs" were deemed by WotC to not be worth pursuing, or they were updated in another UA. UAs are playtest content, they may make it official, they may not. I too hope that Armorer becomes official, but there is a non-zero chance that it won't.

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
UA is released overpowered before being savagely mauled into a more 'balanced' state by Wizards. This is intentional - they want to gauge people's reaction to the concepts and ideas of the thing, and giving it Big Juicy Numbers makes that easier for them. Somehow.
The Armorer is extremely popular (if only because people are uncreative twits who refuse to make a character that didn't exist in Marvel first) and very likely to make it into an official product in some way in the future. It will likely lose some of its more egregious abilities, or have those abilities toned down. Do not expect two extra free Infusions in the release Armorer, that seems to be the obvious place to kick the UA in the shin.

Well, that's a bit harsh.

Go read the 'Introduce Your Artificer!' thread in the artificer subforum. See the number of 'Tonee Spork' riffs therein. See if that opinion remains.
I don't know if I've ever seen an Armorer artificer that isn't some sad, bland, flavorless variation of Iron Man. Admittedly, Wizards very clearly built the subclass specifically for the people who've decided that all artificers must be based strictly and exclusively on Tony Stark with no other inspiration or character archetype possible, but still. It's just...c'mon, guys. Flex your brains just a wee little bit, ne? There's other cool stuff one can do with the Armorer. Really there is.
Does that mean that everyone who plays an Armorer is trying to be Iron Man, or just that the people who think it's funny to make a memetastic Armorer are the ones most likely to post it in that thread?

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
My immediate thought when I read the Armorer abilities was the Tau Stealthsuits from Warhammer 40k. *shrug*
[Edit]
A Deep Gnome with the Infiltrator Armor, who can speak Draconic (stand in for Kroot, which are more birdlike versions of Lizardfolk) and Primordial (stand in for the Niccasar, psychic entities that pilot ships through the Warp for the Tau, who are 100% not psychic and so cannot use that FTL method themselves). Focus on combat utility spells for locating and tracking specific targets for allies (mimicking the functions of the Drones that the Stealth Command Suit has access to) and making heavy use of Blur and Invisibility. Take the Svirfneblin Magic feat when convenient to get at-will Nondetection along with once/LR Blur on top of your actual casting of it to better facilitate the concept. Play them Lawful Good to keep with the theme of the Greater Good, which is the Tau's guiding philosophy.
I'm thinking maybe some Artificer centric Drow civilization that' came under some serious Myconid influence and basically become the Invid from Robotech. Genesis pits in the Underdark, this could go somewhere..... The Underdark can no longer sustain the Flower of Life so it starts to propagate on the surface world ... that could go somewhere.
So yes, I'm pillaging one IP (Robotech)'s pillaging of another IP (Mospeda) to do a non Iron Man Artificer. Surface elves of course have a group that are basically the Robotech Masters.

You know what, I've thought about it some more, and I'm actually going to blame WotC directly for this. The description of the Infiltrator Armor's Lightning Launcher ability specifically creates a gem like aperture on either the chestplate, or on either palm, of the armor. These locations are exactly where Iron Man can fire repulsor blasts, and are pretty much his default offense ability (just like the Infiltrator version of the Armorer). And considering that only in the last year the events of Endgame unfolded, Tony Stark and Iron Man are fresh in everyone's mind. So it's really not a surprise to see all the knock-offs. If WotC didn't see that being a thing, I think they need to have a serious talk with whoever put the concept together initially.
What? Am I not the only one who has the unique idea of playing Antonius Potentus, master artificer? [/sarcasm]
If I ever play an Armorer inspired by an existing franchise it's probably going to be a Courier from Fallout New Vegas wearing the Stealth Suit from Old World Blues. That just seems like more fun. :)

And even if it does become official, there's a strong possibility that it won't match its UA stats.
