I just found out that this site was playable without a tablet and I wanted to pitch this idea out. I like adventures in middle eath 5e,. The beginning, middle, and end, are the quests themselves and the players do free form play by using one of the three modes of adventuress in middle earth (journey, adventure, and or fellowship modes.) So a player wins the favor of the quest by playing the most play by posts of a type by doing the most fellowships or adventure or journeys in the beginning or middle or end, and that player gets to say how the free form play is organized into the beginning of the games story. And rise and repeat for the middle and end.
Is this possible to do with the tools available in dnd beyond?
Pretty much ya? Just takes using averages and the passive skill rules. It’s a lot more work on the DM end though. You have to take average attack and damage into account when designing encounters. If you go no roll and the party comes up in a fight against something with a AC 18 and their average attack roll is 15 they are in trouble. In cases like that remember the rule that advantage adds +5 to rolls and have the players work together more. Another option is increasing the number of opponents but decreasing their power/defense. But that is just how I would run it.

Excellent, I hope to get a game like this going or join one if someone else makes it, Im not picky about it being set in middle earth either im fine with using whats available or making a homebrew campaign.
Thank you sageis for hitting the pitch like so far out of the park it must of been a magic +1 item you used to make that post.

Happy to be of service. This style of game should work fine for PbP so if you want to head over to the Looking For Players or the Play by Post sections you may be able to scrounge up some players and get a one shot rolling out to shake out any kinks or bugs. Good luck, have fun.
