So a few years ago I homebrewed an "interpretation" of the Cypher class from Pillars of Eternity. Unfortunately, I have not got a chance to playtest it much (about 3 combat encounters at 3 different levels) so I am unsure with its balance. When I used it, it seemed pretty fair (if not a bit on the underwhelming side). I was wondering if the hive mind of ddb could help me find things to fix!
Things in particular I'm looking at (ordered by priority):
1. Which ability score should be the power DC be based on? I've gone back and forth between Int/wis/cha and I can't think of what would be better? Though CHA fits the flavor by representing "self" and "force of personality" having ANOTHER Cha based class opens the door to some crazy multiclassing. INT would be my next guess with this being all psy-ish but WIS also represents mental fortitude so that works to? In the linked page I used WIS, but that's subject to change. I've even thought about saying "Pick one when you choose this class" but idk lol
2. Any potential broken combos either by using feats/multiclassing/spells etc...
3. Interest in playing. Does the gish-esque playstyle of alternating hitting and "casting" have appeal? 4. Mechanical errors. missing mechanics, clumsy wording, "holes" etc.
