Decided to try my hand at homebrewing. My first entry is my take on the classic "Shadow Thief" archetype. But rather than just repurpose the Monk's Way of Shadow for the Rogue, I decided to try something new: a shadow assassin that literally dives into darkness and swims through it like water.
Alright, my initial impression is that this is way too powerful. Exhaustion is a powerful mechanic, which can massively debilitate enemies, and being able to apply it so easily is insane. Barely any spells in 5e can even apply exhaustion, and the ones which do are very high level.
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I'd hoped that I'd taken care of that problem by making it so it could only be stacked up your proficiency bonus, but after rereading how the condition works...yeah.
You think I should just go with Poisoned or just limit it to one level of exhaustion? I'm leaning more toward Poison, as it's the closest to what I'm going for. Maybe save exhaustion for the higher levels?
