I'm making a magic item gives advantage and a plus 2 bonus to Charisma Checks against spesific people (Nobility being one of them), as well as a plus 2 Charisma bonus.
However, the item is cursed, automatically attuning when worn, with the curse casting a form of alter self that also effects the clothing, and causes them to act more "Regal".
Is this item OP? Or does the curse balance out the buff? (My thought is, It'll either go to the socially inept character to make them more useful in social situations, or more likely, to the Charisma caster who's just going to be slightly better at what they already do.)
(Note, I'm not asking about if l should give a cursed item that changes how a character is RP'ed. If you want to share your thoughts on that topic, l already created THIS topic to discuss it.)
Advantage on Charisma checks isn't actually super difficult to pick up; you (or an ally) can bestow it using enhance ability, and the Actor feat grants it for Deception and Performance when pretending to be someone else.
So given that the advantage is limited to specific types of target it may not be too powerful, especially if it's coming at the cost of changing the character's appearance against their will. How much of a penalty that actually is though will depend a lot on the character, e.g- do they hate nobles?

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.

1) How often are CH and advantage Ch saves made in your game?
2) Are there other +2 items about or in your game are their no items that provide a bonus to stats?
3) You made a comment on curses and your game, but again I would state let your players know cursed items are prevalent in your game so they can take appropriate action. I can say myself when jumping into a old module back in the AD&D days that had lots of cursed items it through me and the group as it was so different from our normal play style, and the game dissolved shortly afterwards do to all of the curse effects. From memory we liked the adventure but not all of the curse effects that were very debilitating and put a lot of pressure on our single cleric PC.
