I like it. That would definitely be a curse. It never fails that when I really needed to score a hit in battle that my dice would fail me. And on top of that my weapon now mocks me would be unbearable.
It would be funny if it had a snooty french voice out of Monty Python or the like.
It's good as is and nothing need be changed but if you want to put a hidden wrinkle in it ... maybe if your PC is a super confident high charisma type and he/she never let on that the insults hurt, and/or voiced clever counter insults, then when the curse is removed the power dynamic is changed. The sword feels discarded and desperate (like a discarded jealous lover) and promises that if it can stay with you it will never mock you again.... And then it does... OR it doesn't and still mocks your foes but gives you something similar to bardic inspiration once per encounter.
The idea that the sword has abandonment issues when the curse is removed, and promises to never mock the wielder again if you keep carrying it with you. I also like the idea of the sword being jealous of other weapons.
As for the voice, that would ultimately be up to the player or the DM, depending on who wishes to do the voice ;)
For the uncursed version (the previous version), it still mocks you but only on crit fails. I didn't want to make it too powerful. Perhaps a once per long rest bardic inspiration?
I like it. You might want to reword the second paragraph because it doesn't say what cantrip is being cast. I assume from the third paragraph that it's vicious mockery?
Hey there, I've been working on making a cursed weapon and I would like to have an opinion and some critique on it.
