Hello! I have been working on a warlock subclass for a bit now, and I'm struggling. I'm pretty new to homebrew as well. I know Warlocks can be the hardest to create a subclass for, but I wanted to give it a shot. The thing I'm mostly having trouble with is the class features. One of them in particular is a bit complicated, as it is an area of effect spell. I'll put it here:
At 1st level, your The Mother of Tears gives you the ability to harness the power of the drowned souls she possesses. As an action, you call forth the spirits of the dead she possesses in a maelstrom of necrotic magic within a 10 foot cube originating from you for 1 minute. You gain the following benefits:
When a creature first enters or is captured in the radius of the spell, they must make a Wisdom saving throw. The creatures that fail their saving throws are blinded by tears until they exit the area of effect or the spell ends.
Any creature that takes damage within the spell’s radius can’t regain hit points until the action ends.
Heavy rain in the radius of the spell creates difficult terrain until the spell ends.
You can't use this feature again until you finish a short or long rest.
The appearance of your Shroud of Mourning reflects some aspect of your patron. For example, your form could be a veil of inky water forming the garb of the Mother of Tears, or your eyes may pool with spectral black tears, coalescing into the storm of your patron.
Its a similar to the first class ability you get for an Undead Patron, but since I only really have the Fiend base to work off of I'm a bit lost as to how to make it using DND Beyond's specifications. The final class ability adds a significant upgrade, but for now I want to at least figure out this one.
