My character has an item called Bracers of Obsidian Shards, which manifests slightly upgraded obsidian versions of common weapons from shadowstuff.
The bracelets can manifest up to two daggers, which have increased range (60/90), up to two handaxes which gain the finesse property, or 1 spiked chain, which is just a whip that gains versatile (1d6). The attuned wearer is proficient in all of these weapons. The weapon can be drawn from the item as part of attacking with it.
So, the question is, how the heck to I actually make this work in the system? I can't find any way to have a wondrous item give weapon proficiencies or any way to make magic items that add weapon properties, increase ranged attack range, etc, in the homebrew system. Do I have to just describe the effects of the magic item, and then make three custom weapons in my character sheet?
I managed to make a versatile whip as a magic item. Custom items in the character sheet won't let me add properties to a weapon, or create a weapon from scratch, unless I've missed something.
Still can't increase range on a thrown weapon.
Also, we can't make magic items that bypass class weapon restrictions, like making a weapon count as a monk weapon or usable with Sneak Attack?
