Coalbrand is OP and the melee attacks are underpowered. There are no situations where the monster would use its melee vs using Coalbrand. Same goes for Gift Explosion vs the other Legendary Actions.
Resistance to Magical weapons is weird and sucks for all the martial characters in the party. Overall, mages have a massive advantage fighting this monster vs any other character type, and it would totally suck to be a melee character in this combat.
It is also really weird that every ability has a different DC, IME that's really annoying to keep track of during combat.
There's also just SO MANY conditions to keep track of. You've got: bleed, burning, blindness, fear, Naughty/Nice, Bells Toll, and restrained all with different sources and durations. [It also makes no sense for the Krampus to deem any creature "Nice".].
There's also SO MUCH redundancy, there's 3 different ways to impose DisAdv on saves, 3 different ways to impose restrained, but weirdly only 1 source of fear. Is Krampus really so associated with chains? This monster seems mostly like an upscaled chain devil with how many chain-based things you've got.
I am running an xmass one shot on Friday and Krampus is my bbeg. Can somebody take a look at this and tell me if it is to OP for a 9th level party. https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/6055267-krampus-the-chainfather
Link returns a 404 error. But it's a difficult question to answer without knowing party size.
