The idea was to make a magic gun based class that could cast spells like a Sorcerer but have a gun as well. Most of the versions of the gun slinger I have seen use mechanical guns. Even if there magic based there gun isn't. This gun is purely magical, its doesn't break, fail, or malfunction. It's more of a spell focus than anything else. What this class ended up being is a way to extend the use of Sorcery Points. This sub class gives the player way more options on what they can use there points on. It does this by giving the player Eldritch Blast to act as there normal attack and allowing them to add effects to their casting of Eldritch Blast to perform different actions. This does make this class sound a lot like it should be a Warlock subclass here's my argument for making it a Sorcerer.
I want more casting than a Warlock, I could make a custom spell list for my subclass but I'd rather just use the Sorcerer spell list cause I would just be recreating it.
I like meta magic and I feel like it works well with adding effects to Eldritch Blast.
Thematically there is already a lot of cross over between Sorcerer and Warlock. Both get there power from another source be it a fey or a draconic ancestry. I know that technically this more fits a Warlock, because your not born with magic, but there so close anyway I don't care. The players hand book does say you can become a Sorcerer by being exposed to powerful magic, so not born with it. If it bother's you, the character was in their mother's womb when this happened so they were born with it. I like the idea that you were born with a gun in your hand.. literally.
One trick that I intentionally built into the class is that you could, passed level 6, use Eldritch Blast three times (twice as and action by a class feature and once as a bonus action) for the cost of a Sorcery point to quicken the bonus action casting. Note: It only works because Eldritch Blast is a cantrip. Also I tried to make the flavor of the class features be that at first your getting abilities more from the gun but the end abilities are actually from the character as they start to own the magic. So there is a meta narrative built into the class, which I think is cool. Here's the link.
I love the idea, but just a quick thought: I think sorcerers get their first sorcerer point at 2nd level. Its doesn't make sense to huve them abilities using resources they lack. Its like saying they cast wish non verbally at 1st level but need to wait until 18 to use it.
I think some description if what the soul gun looks like might be helpful. Does it glow? Is it solid and can it be stolen?
Some changes I suggest: let the character pick the cantrip (my current sorcerer lives on Ray of Frost). That would allow some customization.
Also you can know Ray of frost. You get your 4 starting cantrips. P.S. I guess I should make it more clear that Eldritch blast doesn't count toward cantrips known.
I reread the description and I think it's way too powerful. The Soul Shot ability potentially gives the character feat level ability, and the every 2 levels.
Its hard to read as I think you omitted some details (like spell point cost and usage/day), but I think getting a magic weapon at 1st level should be enough. With no training, the PC can use Eldrich Blast. I would progress from there, possible waiting until 4th or 5th level for Soul Shot.
And if the PC struggles to pick one of the possible effects, they are probably well balanced.

Your have 1 Sorcery point at first level. One of the class features gives you basically a extra Sorcery point.
Also you can know Ray of frost. You get your 4 starting cantrips. P.S. I guess I should make it more clear that Eldritch blast doesn't count toward cantrips known.
No, you get sorcery points at level 2. https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/sorcerer#FontofMagic-371
It's a sub class feature that you get and extra 1 sorcery point. It's call "Enhanced Sorcery"
