In reference to the Shadow Blade spell, I'd like to create an item that can be added to the attack section of the character sheet. I've managed to get fairly close by using a yklwa as the base and adding the weapon properties of light and finesse, giving it 'proficiency - simple weapons', replacing the base damage type to psychic and adding extra psychic damage dice. The thing I currently can't quite manage is the range of the thrown property. There is one bonus I can add called "Bonus > Weapon Attack Range Multiplier" but that doesn't actually seem to alter anything or even add anything to the description of the weapon. I would've thought that if I added that, and put in the "Fixed Value" input a multiplier of 2, that'd then multiply the weapon's attack range by two. Apparently, that's not how the 'weapon attack range multiplier' works, however.
Anyone else managed to find a way to make this? Whether as a spell or item or whatever, honestly, I don't care how it's done as long as it includes as many of the aspects of a shadow blade as possible, especially when it comes to the Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade additions to weapon notes in the character sheet.

OK, so I just tried with a feat and although it allows me to add an attack, it still doesn't count as a weapon and so doesn't add Booming Blade/GFB notes. It also requires two separate actions for melee and ranged which means you get two entries in your character sheet.
I really don't get why the DDB team went with hard-coded modifiers instead of modular modifiers. It seems to be the harder, more time-consuming and less flexible route in the long run.

Exactly why they plan to switch to modular modifiers in a future update.
The fixed modifiers were just easier at the time and naturally expanded into the cluster we have today.

It's probably better to use a feat, as they have access to the action system, allowing fine control over the action added to the character sheet.

Any feats you recommend copying to determine their mechanics for this purpose?

I missed the mention of that on any dev update or on the forums. Any chance of a link/reference?

I've mostly just heard them mention it in Q&As. It is listed as homebrew revamp in roadmap. https://ddb.ac/feature-roadmap
Anyone manage to HOMEBREw one and care to share?
You don't need to make an item. You can just create a custom action.
