I was annoyed by how thematically and mechanically similar the monk and sorcerer classes are to one another. The character concept of a sorcerer seeking spiritual training from a monk is something I wanted to play for the longest time, but ki and sorcery points demand you build a character focusing on one class over the other. So I built this subclass to give the sorcerer some monk flavor after seeing that the UA subclass "Way of the Astral Self" gave the monk some sorcerer flavor. It was tricky trying to come up with defensive abilities without making official sorcerer subclasses obsolete, and it was hard to avoid crazy multiclass combos.
I think I have something special now, but I would really appreciate some feedback on this subclass. If there is any questions, please let me know so I can give you my thought process so far.
A way to gain temp hp is definitely an good idea I will look into. Maybe something modeled off the fiend warlock's ability could work?
I've thought of a few melee cantrip abilities for this subclass in the past, but I was worried about giving the subclass to many abilities. How does a crossbow master like ability sound where ranged spell attack cantrips ignore disadvantage for being in melee, and if your cantrip attack target is within 5ft you can make an unarmed strike on the same target as a bonus action?

Meditating Soul Subclass
I like it but the d6 hit die is going to hold it back considerably. Maybe toss in a way to gain temp hp somewhere early in the origin?
Might be cool to allow them to use the martial artist damage die with melee cantrips.
