I found this homebrew version of an Avatar: The Last Airbender monk, and its really good. Problem is i am running into a lot of issues making it in D&D Beyond for my players. There are a lot of class features that involve selections and I am self taught at best. This particular one is beyond my skills. Anyone have ideas how to make this that can give me a simple break down how to do it?
This definitely is gonna take some doing but I THINK i might have a way to help. As you know, when creating a Subclass you can add a class feature. Within that class feature you can create options. So for example when you reach 3rd level in this class you choose your Discipline.
So that would be created as a Class feature, granted at level 3 with 4 options.
Then you would create an additional class feature for the "Building Power Mechanic" - this grants you additional "Forms" (My interpretation is these are the spell like moves at the bottom of the sheet") depending on your level.
So you can set this feature to grant a selection of choices based on the class level. So for this you get 2 forms at 3, 2 at 6, 1 at 11, and 1 at 17th. -- In the section "Class Levels where options are known" it would look like" 3,3,6,6,11,17 -- That limits what the player gets depending on the class.
Now, I cannot think of any easy way to put the moves in. It looks like they all would have to be added into the class features by hand, separated by element. However, when you add them there is a section "PREREQUISITE CLASS FEATURE OPTION" and depending on the ability you would set it to be Air, Fire etc... This makes it so the player only sees the choices based on their form.
As a note, looking at the Way of the Four Elements, it looks like each elemental ability is both a "Feature" and "Actions Granted", meaning it shows up on the actions tab and features & traits.
--------
I tossed this around a few times and what I did to make sure it worked was:
Class Feature: Element
Class Feature: Fire Moves (Granted at 3,3,6,6,11,17) requires X level depending on move, prerequisite: Fire Element.
--------
Sorry if this is kind of messy, I recently digitized the Humblewood setting from Deck of Many for my players so I've spent too much time with the Subclass homebrew lately haha. At least it all works correctly.
I just entered in all the Fire bending stuff, and it worked! Thank you for your help! I was banging my head on my desk out of frustration, failing to figure it out last night. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
