Ever want to play a lot of character types but only had time for one group/campaign? I delved into the lore and believe I have come up with a solution that follows canon. Though I had not intended to create a monster, when I stepped back to look at it, that is what is was.
I call the new Monster type "Strawmen" but am thinking about a more gender neutral label...maybe "Lastoa'Giza"...Basque for "Straw Humanoid", yup 'straw' is a critical element. This new Monster/PC type doesn't fit into the homebrew creation options of D&D Beyond, as it requires, at its core, multiple fully developed RaW characters of any Race, Class, etc., that each player develops as desired and then 'plugs in' to the Monster, in order for the Monster to be able to do anything.
So what I've developed is more of a lore or backstory or a bit of Arcana that explains how the type originated, why it exists, and how the mechanics of the monster work to allow multiple characters, and how the monster limits those characters. I'm 10 sessions in, over several months of tweaking, to running a small party of these on a regional homebrew campaign that explores the introduction of these things to a 5e world. This is my first effort at anything like this, and I'd appreciate your thoughts.
