So, I am new at this forum. Excuse me in advance don't know if I should post it here.
I am dming for a couple of years now and recently started my homebrew and I came across some things. I love creating lore, even if my players don't find it I write it anyway it may come in handy later on.
I just came with an idea to do a angels and Demons plot as seen in the videogame darksiders 1, I love the setting and the lore of it, so I thought why not use some elements in a homebrew setting for D&D. Now my question.
What is the best way to approach this? The idea of a bleak dark fantasy world where evil allready runs the place and the chosen ones (the players) are here to restore order.
I've never played Darksiders, and I'm a sorta new DM, but what I'd do is probably have the characters be hired by some resistance/religious group to help fight back. Maybe at some point in the campaign they receive a blessing that shows they're the chosen ones. Perhaps as they go from city to city, fighting back the darkness, they slowly uncover clues that could tell them how to finally end this madness.

What sort of plot-hooks would you suggest?
Any advice is welcome.
Kind regards.
