This will be used as the basis for a Half-Fiend Warlock that is my PC and the secret BBEG of a larger arc. Probably need a couple levels in Rogue for sneaky stuff. I gain the following powers (which I will rarely use so I keep my true identity a secret)
Damage Resistances Cold, Fire, Lightning; Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from Nonmagical Attacks
Truesight: 120 ft
Languages Known: All
Innate Spellcasting. Your ability is Charisma (spell save DC 15). You can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: alter self, darkness, heat metal, invisibility (self only), magic missile
Magic Resistance. The Arcanaloth has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Teleport. You magically teleport, along with any equipment you are wearing or carrying, up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.
Per the DM, I have to either take a serious negative somewhere, or the other PCs will be given awesome McGuffins as well.
The negative hasn't been defined, so it could be anything from a stat gimp, to a table of "bad things" that happen to me each time I wake up from a long rest, or whatever y'all can think of.
I'm just trying to get ideas together before the next session (6days from now) so the rest of the party doesn't get suspicious.
I will keep this list of negative effects updated based on suggestions from y'all, my DM, and my own ideas.
Possible ideas of negative effects:
Loss of half of spell slots until next long rest
Lose HP equal to half of damage dealt, rounded down, until next long rest.
Unable to use concentration spells until next long rest.
When you cast a spell, you have to expend an additional spell slot of the same level or higher to cast that spell. If you can't, you gain 2 points of exhaustion. If you are casting an at-will spell that would normally not expend a spell slot, you still have to expend a spell slot using it's original casting level. If you are casting an at-will spell at higher level, you have to spend a spell slot equal to, or higher than, the spell level cast.
so, basicaly, if i understand correctly, you gain all the benefit above, and which for it to be balanced, you want it to be balanced as a PC, or as a BBEG that will challenge the whole party in the end fight ?
I recently could get a look at grim hollow transformation, and this make me think of that, as the party, and therefore you too, progress you could gain boon and flaw based on you growing the power to achieve your evil plan.
usually, it go as follow, a transformation as 4 stage:
the first one, give 1 flaw, and 2 boon
the second give 1 falw and 1 boon
the thrid give 1 flaw and 1 boon
the fourth five 1 flaw and 1 boon
Boon and flaw tend to get stronger as the level grow. and milestone in the story could allow you to reach the next BBEG stage. tho, balancing all of that, especially given the on idea you have given, ain't that easy
TL,DR :
I'm a newb and I need help making my PC be Darth Sidious/Senator Palpatine without the other PCs knowing it.

Yes, balanced as a PC, but **may** lose the disadvantages a long time from now when the party goes to fight the BBEG and, *gasp*, it's me.

Yeah, the DM and I have been talking about it on-and-off throughout the day in Discord DM. We hadn't thought of progressive Boon & Flaw mechanics.
