Are there any feats that would allow a character to use a two-handed weapon in one hand? I have a Dragonborn Barbarian with a Str 20 and was curious if he would be able to do something like that.
there are no official feats that allow this - two-handed weapons require two hands to use in combat.
I expect you know this though, hence asking on the homebrew forums! It would be a reasonably easy feat to create, you just need to get your DM's permission. :)
So, something like the Monkey Grip feat from 3.5? Personally, I'd see no problem with it so long as it has an appropriate Strength requirement & doesn't add any other advantages, besides being able to wield 2-handed melee weapons with one hand. (Anything more would be a bit overpowered.)
Prerequisites: Strength of at least 18 You are stronger than the average warrior, you gain the following benefits:
• Increase your Strength or Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
• You can wield Two-Handed sword with one hand instead.
• You are able to use a shield.
• You can not use 2 weapons.
This is the most balanced of the wanting to wield a 2 hander in 1 hand feats i've seen in a long time. If you really are wanting to sell it to your DM you could go so far as taking the ASI off of it and then i cant even see them having any reason to deny it except for fear.
I gave a magic item that allowed my Barb/Fighter player to use his greatsword in one hand. It made him happy and was HARDLY game breaking. All it really changed was he got an extra +2 to AC from the shield.
I would like to add that if you took the fighting initiate feat of defense instead of the feat you suggested it would only be a difference of 1 AC and that AC cant be knocked out of your hand with a disarming strike.
IF your DM has reservations outside of the feat and the strength or dexterity ASI options being dropped cant change his mind, see if adding in that you also can't take the fighting style of defense. That way you cant sneak a +3 into your defense instead of a +2 and it should be a little more appealing.
Additionally if he still has reserves its probably because of GWM which if you are using it maybe you just making it so you have to use two hands to gain the benefit?
I'm just trying to think of any reasons i might not allow it as a DM and trying to give you ways around it.

Would this feat be to OP?
Two-Handed Swordmaster
Prerequisites: Strength of at least 18

• Increase your Strength or Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20.
• You can wield Two-Handed sword with one hand instead.

I would change that to "You can wield any weapon with the Two-Handed property in one hand instead, unless if it is a bow."

I say this feat is pretty solid
