So im new to D&D and have no idea where to start if there are people around my age (teens early 20s is acceptable) that can help me i would be so grateful.
Well I'm not exactly in my early 20s but I could suggest you start by looking for others who are just as eager to start a group and since the module "Lost Mine of Phandelver" is free you could learn as you play from there. I highly advise you form a group of 4 to 5 players ONLY (not counting the DM) as since 4 to 5 players is the optimal number of players in a campaign so everyone can an easier time voicing how their opinions, wants and other stuff to do in the campaign.
Having more than 5 players can result in some players not being able to voice what they want to and end up just being silent to ultimately bored. Every player should get a chance to do/voice what they want with group so having a max of 5 players is best.
When you have gathered your intrepid group of players and willing DM, decide which Beginner friendly campaign you wish to do (if you don't want to use the Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign), work with each of the other players and your DM in making your character sheets. Have a session 0 (the session before the actual start) as to set boundaries (if the players want more combat or role play, etc.) and get an overall feel of how the campaign will go.
Depending on the experience of your group and/or DM , they'll be able to help smooth things along the campaign as in my personal experience 5th edition is very easy to grasp. You don't have to worry about the rules if most of you are just starting out since DnD Beyond is such a magnificent tool for both players and DMs.
Do also discuss a specific time and day when you'll be having sessions, it can be every week or bi-weekly so everyone can work it in their schedule. Note the fact that playing a campaign is a COMMITMENT since some campaigns can range from months to whole year. That said, respect the schedule and always inform your DM and fellow players if you won't be able to make it to the session.
Finally remember to respect everyone and have fun.
