The characters will be meeting each other outside an Inn shortly before chaos erupts as all of the nearby wildlife, livestock, and pets are simultaneously possessed by a desire to kill everything in sight. Any animal companions your character has will also be affected. It’s up to the party how they decide how they go about finding what’s wrong, but I will present opportunities to start them off once the initial fight is over.
You may be allowed to play some of the other citizens during the battle, but they must be dead when it ends or I will send another wave. Consider using them as human shields.
If you would like to take part or have any inquiries, leave your discord username below. (Your character will start at level 1 and any rare tools they have must be approved by me)
too restricting you may get a player in a month but I don't think it will do too well as I find that the more restricting a campaign is the less they do well also lot of tpk potential

A bit more context might be needed on your game. A date, time, a few simple outlines about your world as well. Also the whole "sending a second wave" might be seen as being a meat grinder adventure and sends a message to players. Also stating to use the town folks as human shields might paint the adventure as a evil player adventure or a game where you get the "kill everything" crowd. I do say the piece of animal attacking is interesting, more context might be needed!

I tried to incorporate both passive and aggressive options in the entires. Would it help if I got rid of both those and just left the basic info?
Also I plan on using the characters backstories to give them a context for why they’re there in the first place. I have the rest of the context already planned out but I intend on mounding it to fit all of the characters so thats why I didn’t include it.

I don’t think starting everyone with base stuff at level 1 is too restricting as they will be leveling up very quickly. Plus you still have total freedom of how your character handles the animals. I have safeguards against tpk that I didn’t include because it would spoil some core elements of the campaign.
I'm new and have never played a game before and would like to join your campaign. I have some inquiries about the campaign, my discord is rayneinthecity#5820.

Giving a time and date would be a great start as that would help your new players see if they can even play your adventure right off and save you a bit of a headache on having to respond to every message. I am sure you never intended to have your game give that kind of vibe but at least to me it does. But after reading what you recently posted replying to me, it seems it was a not the deal. You got tools it seems in place to tell a good story, as animals suddenly attacking does sound like an interesting hook for your players. Also having the players owns animals turning on them is also a good hook!
I would suggest using the template that is on the sticky post, it helps list off the information for your game a lot easier. It takes away a lot of the "easy" questions and lets you focus more on finding the right players instead of having to answer a lot of questions that can be covered in said template!
I myself have been looking for another game to join, hence why this post drew my interest. I liked the hook you stated so I responded. Plus, it is always good to see GM's making new games and they lasting through their whole planned run!

If you need a helping hand or heck, if you game fits my schedule, we can talk. If not, the greatest of luck to you!

Thank you for the tips ^-^ As far as scheduling, I intended on privately asking each player for their time zone and what hours of day they are typically available to set up dates and times. I’m going to stick to a limited party size anyway.

not about the levels but many subclasses have pets that are their whole thing. so basically you are saying that you cannot use them. though I think I'm being too harsh as I use those ones too often. and you may need to have counters to counters to the tpks as even if you have countered, this seems very deadly. I would advise making backups

Lol, I actually designed the rough outline for the story to be a possible method of gaining animal companions. I think it would be amazing if a character had a long, harrowing story about how they acquired their familiar.
If a player can somehow come up with a way to either keep their pet far away long enough or to cure it beforehand, then I would probably let them go with that.
For tpk, it’s only as deadly as I make it. If I accidentally give the players more than they can handle, then there are some strategies I have for saving and healing them so they can try again. Though I already have the encounters set up so that they’ll only be fighting monsters that match their level so it’s unlikely. As for the initial battle being deadly, it’s wont be. It’s mostly going to be domestic animals and small urban wildlife that attacks, and all of the attackers will have few enough hit points + small enough swarms that every member of the party should make it out alive. They’d be healed shortly after too.
also i shortly after i remembered muzzles exist and claw trimmers
makes getting an actual pet easier but then what happens if an already pretty evil animal is corrupted would it become good or more evil is it a - value or a * value if its the second value then they would be good but with the - then you could still have good ones left or a neutral one.

All nonsapient beings will be infected (So races that are animal based will be fine)
Think of it as a widespread disease or a partial hive mind. They are not themselves nor are they the opposite of themselves.

but then there is another problem with natural immunity also, the reason why I am asking so many questions is because I am interested in this campaign

Dw I love answering the questions. Some of the questions are very helpful for understanding what people’s expectations are.
What do you mean by natural immunity? For the animals, none will be immune unless someone can give me a solid, foolproof reason as to why their companion wouldn’t be affected.
well its weird as some animals are genetically immune to some diseases its unknown how they become immune but they seem to be
