Hi everyone, and welcome! I'm Amarise, an experienced player and baby DM, and Shattered Spire is a text-only pickup game designed around gladiatorial-style PvE combat. If you:
-Have an uncertain schedule but still want to play DnD -Have powerful or unusual builds you want to try -Love combat -Either can't or don't want to use voice chat -Prefer playing by RAW -Want to experience taking a PC all the way from level 1 to level 20 -Want to try out nearly 300 magical items, enchantments, and gifts
Then this game is for you! No story, minimal RP, pure combat. Fast advancement through early levels, over 100k gold earned by level 20, and matches custom-built per party.
Now for the nitty-gritty. Games for now will be run during times mostly suitable for the continental US, mainly 6pm-12am EST. (I'm going to be looking for more DMs eventually, this is just for the time being.) Character creation is point-buy with a pool of 30 points rather than the standard 27. All HP after level 1 is taking the average, and you may use the following books:
PHB; Volos; Xanathar's; Tasha's; Strixhaven (Legacy Aaracokra and Genassi are also permitted)
All options are available EXCEPT Custom Lineage. Multiclassing and feats are actively encouraged.
At this time I'm only opening the game to people who are over 18 and have experience with both 5e and roll20. If you're interested, simply fill out the form below and if I think you're a good fit I'll send you a Discord link! (Please note that having Discord is required for Shattered Spire. The games will be played on roll20, but everything else takes place on Discord.)
APPLICATION
1.) Experience with 5e
2.) Experience with roll20
3.) Experience with text-only games
4.) Are you over 18? (You don't need to give your age, yes/no will do.)
5.) Build you've never gotten to play but want to (You don't actually have to make this character in-game.)
1) I have all official source material. I've played in one short campaign and have been a DM for the past year.
2) The one campaign I was in as a player was on Roll20, but I haven't touched it otherwise.
3) I grew up with Infocom games, played in MUDs as a child, often roleplay in game communities. I normally run D&D 5e sessions live in text chat on my Foundry server.
4) Yes.
5) I suppose if given free range to make a character as I please this moment... It might be an Eberron mark of handling human druid of the shepherd circle? Just be able to passively speak to animals and monsters, specialize in pets rather than wildshape. In keeping with the lore, I suppose he'd come from a family of hippogriff tamers. I have a hundred other ideas though, and DMing has me trying lots of character ideas out anyway, so I'm pretty adaptable.
6) Yes, though I generally don't use voice chat. Feel free to add me as you please, Maestro Moon#5160
Been playing 5e for several years now. Started on Discord with Avrae and moved up to vtt.
2.) Experience with roll20
I'm experienced both as a DM and as a player with Roll20. Started fooling around with some APIs in my games now also.
3.) Experience with text-only games
When I started back up with DnD in 5e I played a few text only games. Prefer the flow of voice games but text adds some more descriptive elements that are normally glossed over during voice play
4.) Are you over 18? (You don't need to give your age, yes/no will do.)
Yes
5.) Build you've never gotten to play but want to (You don't actually have to make this character in-game.)
On youtube there is a channel called d4: D&D Deep Dive (https://www.youtube.com/c/DDDeepDive/videos) and I have been wanting to try several of his builds for a while now. Probably a Warforged Artificer Artillerist
If you want to read the flavor text for the game or get a little bit more information, you can also check out the LFG page on Roll 20, link included below.
I am a player in this game and have been in two fights already. All I can say is how well balanced the fights are and how truly exciting it was. The community is still small but helpful and if you are on the fence you should give it a try and I recommend it highly.
1.) Experience with 5e - played in several PbP games over the last 7 years - DM 2 PbP servers on discord - Played in a weekly online game for 2 years and monthly in person game for about 6 months.
2.) Experience with roll20 - Weekly online game was on roll20
3.) Experience with text-only games - mentioned above; played in several over the last 7 years; I DM 2 PbP servers.
4.) Are you over 18? (You don't need to give your age, yes/no will do.) Yes
5.) Build you've never gotten to play but want to (You don't actually have to make this character in-game.) I want to play this in game if possible. It's a Meta build for AC/Tank. Warforged armorer artifcer, abjuration wizard, with a dip of warlock. All his spells are flavored as contraptions that insert or are a part of his armor. I included a little backstory I wrote for him below...
6.) Do you have Discord? Yes T1mT1mTaroo#5295
Fivez initial construction was completed in a lab, and he was designed to assist in improvements of armaments for the war and thus spent hours on end learning and cataloguing from the master artificer who created him. In a lab accident, he was merged with his hex weapon and it’s properties i fused him with power and sharper intellect. At that point his master saw the the potential of Fivez and released him from his service to explore the wide world as he saw fit, and thus Fivez began an exploration of the betterment of himself. Having only ever know the war he continues to serve in the military, but soon came to realize that magic was going to be the best way for him to improve upon himself. He became the first warforged to enter the mage’s corps, honing his unique combination of science and magic to better himself as an effective weapon against the enemy.
