What is a mini-campaign?
A campaign that isn't planned to go more than 6-7 sessions. Players will start at level 4, should be level 7 by the final session. There is a threat and larger plot at work, but your choices can certainly shape how events unfold and depending on choices and dice rolls it could always go longer.
The World of Salos
Salos is the smallest of the three worlds, a little under half the size of Kasti, with a warmer climate than Tiesa. A world full of islands, the great archipelago appears to stretch over 70% of it’s surface, but there is actually less land than on Tiesa. The usable land is further reduced due to the central islands being highly volcanic, the frequent eruptions and earthquakes stymieing attempts at colonization, but the remainder is very suited for life, the majority of isles being tropical in nature, with a handful of more temperate islands near the poles. There are an estimated 100,000 islands, the largest island being around 50000 square miles, with the smallest inhabited isles covering only a few miles.
The beast races all originated on Salos, living together in various states of discomfort until the War in Heaven. That unified them through it’s end, until the arrival of the Yuan-ti. While not happy with their new neighbors the population of Salos had been reduced so much during the war that they had land to spare and for a time it seemed as if things would progress peacefully. This proved to be a false hope, and the last several thousand years of Salos' history has since been defined by the many wars against the Yuan-ti, interspersed by conflict among the native races. Three main nations now control Salos, with numerous smaller islands maintaining their own independence.
Our campaign begins in the small town of Sahnola, an independent island that has become home to a wide mix of harengon, minotaurs, tabaxi, loxodon and many others in the century since it was established. Most of the original inhabitants came there fleeing one of the wars or simply seeking a new way of life, but now the majority of it's population was born there. While independent it does maintain ties to other larger islands, usually in the form of trade. It is peaceful, but the world holds enough threats both natural and not that many are trained to defend themselves. As a player you have a connection to the village, whether that is having moved there a few years back, being born there, or some other form is up to you.
