IronHold - Capital of Grathmor
Overview: IronHold, the capital of Grathmor, is a massive fortress city built into the heart of the Blackstone Mountains. It is a symbol of the kingdom’s unyielding strength and industrious nature. The city is renowned for its vast network of forges, mines, and workshops, making it one of the most important trade hubs for metalwork and weaponry in all of El'Druin. IronHold’s architecture reflects the rugged, durable nature of its people—stone towers, thick walls, and sturdy battlements dominate the skyline, while deep within the mountain lie the city’s famed subterranean districts.
Our View soars over the rugged peaks of the Blackstone Mountains, IronHold emerges from the rocky expanse like a bastion carved from the very bones of the earth. The outer walls of the city, massive and unyielding, glint in the sunlight as steel plates reinforce the thick stone battlements. From this height, you can see the city's structure, sprawling yet orderly, with a network of streets and forges that sprawl outward like veins from its mountain core.
Dipping lower, Our View glides toward the main gate, where two colossal iron doors stand open adorned with ancient runes, a symbol of Grathmor’s mastery of metal and stone. As We pass through the gate, the city opens up beneath you. IronHold’sstreets are alive with movement—carts loaded with ore rumble along cobblestone roads, while blacksmiths hammer away in open-air forges, sparks flying from red-hot metal.
The Our View swoops through the bustling Steel Market, where the clang of hammers mixes with the shouts of merchants hawking rare minerals, enchanted weapons, and all manner of mechanical wonders. Rich smells waft from food stalls, blending with the ever-present scent of smoke and molten steel. Shoppers haggle and wander among the market's vibrant stalls, all while keeping a cautious eye on the occasional HexGuard patrol walking their rounds.
As Our View ascends again, it catches a glimpse of the Iron Citadel perched on the highest ledge of the mountain. Its imposing spires, made of black stone and gleaming steel, seem to pierce the sky. Hanging from the edges, Multiple Banners of Grathmor—black with silver edges—flutter in the wind, proudly displaying the Crest of The Kingdom of Grathmor, the Crest of the Duke who governs this unbreakable city.
Then, our view dives lower once more, tracing the narrow alleyways between massive industrial workshops, where the Slag from the forges piles chest high, and the rhythm of labor echoes with each swing of the smith’s hammer near by. The Our View speeds toward the HexGuard Tower, a stark, gray stone building standing vigil near the heart of the city.
The entrance to this tower is lined with sturdy guards clad in dark armor, their faces hardened by years of service. As the Our View slows and passes through the tower's archway, it moves up winding stone steps, adorned with mounted weapons and Grathmor banners every 10 feet. The dim light flickers from oil lamps along the walls, casting long shadows as the Our View ascends these steps. Our View finally settles Toward the top of the tower, inside the HexGuard Command Room.
The space is furnished with heavy wooden tables, with the desk made of Granite, currently covered in maps and scattered reports. Sitting behind the Desk is Captain Varyn, the grizzled veteran of the HexGuard, his gnome statue dwarfed by his commanding presence. His weathered face is fixed in a grim expression as he surveys the maps, his battle-hardened eyes betraying a deep understanding of the city's undercurrents.
The First session began here, in the heart of Grathmor’s defense, where the fate of the first of many one-shot missions was determined by the players actions.
