I'm a returning DM looking for more players for an active Curse of Strahd campaign. We've completed a homebrew starting adventure, entered the lands of Barovia, and then we used plot shenanigans to play the new "Hold Back The Dead" one shot, so the group is quite loaded as they go back into the lands of Barovia once more. Looking for age 18+ players due to the horror content of the campaign. The character creation rules and code of conduct for the game are included below for reference. If you are interested, feel free to send me a private message or to respond to this thread. I may take some time to respond due to work hours and volume of requests. We have three two open spots at the moment. Once we fill I'll respond to this thread and close it.
Species/Races: Any species can be selected. The 2024 version of a race supersedes the 2014 version of a race. Some races only get one language (Multiverse and older). In such a case, one additional standard language can be selected (the list of standard and rare languages can be found here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/phb-2024/creating-a-character#FillInNumbers)
Backgrounds: All 2024 backgrounds provide ability score increases and a feat. If the limited selection from the 2024 Players Handbook does not work with your character concept, we can work around that by creating a homebrew background or working around an old background. Please let me know if you want to do that.
Ability Scores: We're using 29 point buy for ability scores - that is two points higher than what is available in the character creator. The highest you may raise a stat using point buy is 15. Ability scores can be increased above 15 in the usual way (background, ability score increases, and feats). My suggested approach would be to buy your stats using the 27 point buy option in the character creator, save the values, and then manually apply the final two points.
Homebrew Solutions for DnD 2024 problems: We homebrew when a gap in the 2024 rules interferes with character creation or advancement. Sometimes a species might have a trait that is completely overlapped by a class feature and no replacement is provided (such as the goblin's nimbleness trait overlapping with the rogue's cunning action, or a forest gnome's illusion cantrip getting overlapped by the illusionist wizard's better version of the same thing). We will add a custom racial feat to give a different racial benefit if and when an overlap occurs.
Character Advancement: We are using a hybrid combination of experience points and Milestone advancement. Set your advancement type to experience points.
Alignment:I'm enforcing a standard of Good and Neutral character alignments due to the "no PvP" rule in the Code of Conduct section.
Code of Conduct
No PvP- This includes stealing from other players' characters without permission as well as combat. Duels between players are mock battles, will not consume resources, and will not affect the game world.
Absence - If someone is absent, we just say their character is in the background doing helpful things. Being absent in itself is not an issue. Please let me know if you can't make it to the game on a particular week.
Rules questions - Questions on 2024 rules are completely fine. If rules questions begin to slow down the game, I will make a temporary ruling to keep the game moving. The Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, and Monster Manual are all available via content sharing.
Altered Rules:
You may take the homebrew spell "Hold" instead of "Hold Person". Hold targets creatures of size medium or smaller rather than humanoids and its upcast effect is the same as Hold Person. I've made the spell available to all casters who have access to the Hold Person spell. Monsters will still use the old spell if it appears on their list. This has been added to make a viable paralysis option for low level casters, given its hard to find almost any adventure where someone fights enough humanoids to make the hold person spell viable.
I would be interested. My discord username is yougeris so feel free to friend me for further discussion. I may also have a second player to join as well but we can discuss that later.

Are you still looking for players? I am highly interested in a campaign like this :)
We have filled and recruitment has closed. Thank you for your interest in my campaign and I wish you all the best.
