Game: D&D 5e (2014) Group preferred: Online (Discord/Roll20) Experience: Any Location/Timezone: 6:30 - 9:30 Pacific Time Every Wednesday
Game style: Hardcore RP focused with balanced social/combat gameplay
Hello All,
I'm looking for 4-5 players for a new campaign I'm planning to start soon.
The game will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30-9:30 Pacific Time (9:30-12:30am Eastern). I might move it up a bit to 6-9 if that works better for people, we can discuss at Session 0.
The game exists in a homebrew world and uses a few homebrew mechanics that add additional challenges to standard 5e ruleset, while also adding new abilities and options for the characters. The tone I'm going for is less typically heroic demi-god DnD characters, and more real people struggling to get by. I add mechanics where party members can get permanently injured and require medical attention (healing spells won't fix this), and equipment can get damaged and require repair. A lot of the gold you find in a dungeon is going to be required to heal and repair after the battle. The party grows in power over time, but much slower and won't ever be totally OP in the world (the local inn-keeper has 15 PC levels, for example. The town guards will stomp you into the dirt at level 4, etc.)
I try to strike a balance, so it's not a grimdark world, just less of a glossy power fantasy and more a story of talented individuals barely overcoming obstacles while trying to unravel mysteries that can take months or years IRL to resolve. Real challenges that feel very rewarding to overcome, and choice have consequences that feel personal. The in game tone isn't meant to feel oppressive or dark, but I skew towards realism/simulationist as a DM, so players looking for a comically light tone will probably be turned off by my F around and find out attitude. My ideal players want to really dive into the world lore and character backstory details, and think about their choice less as options in a game and more of a "what would a person do in this situation?"
I've run this specific campaign several times before, and I re-work/improve it a little each time from lessons learned. The total length of the campaign is 3-4 Acts, each lasting 12-18 months or IRL time, so please only sign up if you expect to have long term availability (obviously, I know life can get in the way. Just want to put that out there).
I will interview perspective players, get everyone together for a session 0, then spend a week or two working with each of you to develop a character backstory that works in the world based on your character ideas. Hopefully we'll have Session 1 within the next 2 weeks.
Ultimately, I'm looking for players who are willing to suffer a few extra restrictions on the character creation and mechanical side, and don't mind me tossing a lot of lore out there about the world building, in exchange for getting to play in a great game with a lot of personalized content in a living, breathing world, with other dedicated roleplayers.
All players must have a reliable internet connection and the ability to use Discord and Roll20. If you haven't used them in the past, I'm happy to walk you through setting them up.

A few years 3ish in total but never long campaigns sadly
i like a mix of styles but prefer horror/grim dark. My ideal setting would be A True Darkworld campaign were it mixes a few ips from Vampire the masqurade, werewolf of the forsaken, oblivion, etc.
so you'll laugh or not take me serious maybe even think im baiting but i just want to be a regular guy. like max stat a 10. A person trying to live to help his party weather it be to help gather and hold there resources or even just to be the camp cook. my favorite character to date was a guardsman in warhammer 40k and everyone else at the table were spacemarines lol i had just crazy lucky rolls that made the character seem chosen by Big E.
Hello there good sir! I am looking for a campaign that focuses on roleplay. I have been playing D&D for over a decade and I have always loved focusing on roleplay. If you have any room in your group let me know I'm looking for a new group right now, my evenings are free EST any day of the week please let me know if you have room
No actual experience but lots of knowledge on game
Just any style that requires having to think things out or allows me to try silly things sometimes
I would love being able to really get into the roleplay of it and try to think like the character, not myself. I also love a good mystery/puzzle.
I have a few ideas for characters, one I think would really fit in to the story idea is a Gnome Artificer. Someone who has been living off of their creations for a while that never went out until they were forced to and doesn’t really realize that their tools and gimmicks cannot fix everything. Really just a character that has to grapple with not being able to solve stuff because their world just got a whole lot bigger. I have more character ideas but I would be really down to join!
