Hello, I'm Brad (he/him) I'm a professional theatre technician and probably-too-serious-about-his-hobby DM. I'm putting together a table of like minded players to run some published modules on Saturday mornings Pacific time
Artists and Improvisors preferred. I want imaginative and self starting players who can "yes, and..." their way in or out of any situation with an ensemble cast. I dislike the use of AI in artwork. I don't use AI to create artwork, I source art from the published adventures and from artists who do not use AI in their work
Table manners - NO sexual aggression or violence - NO racial aggression or violence - NO gender aggression or violence My table is open to people who are cool with others as they are and as they express themselves. Hate of any kind is not tolerated. Good vibes only - If for any reason a player is not the right fit, they will be removed from the group. I'm not a peer mediator, I don't hang out with people I don't like, and neither should you
I play D&D 5e 2014. If you, like me, think WotC has enough money and do not want to upgrade your book collection, this is the place for you. Currently playing:
**Ghosts of Saltmarsh** - Seafaring themed dungeons with elements of dark fantasy and eldritch horror - Your favorite pirate movie meets Shadow Over Innsmouth (Lovecraft)
We'll start with session 0, and any new players along the way will also start with a session 0. Game time is Saturdays 9 am to 12 pm Pacific time. I start with a player recap of last episode, character question of the day, and then get into play. We'll have at least one 10 minute break each episode.
I use Discord for video and voice calls, and for organizing game info. **I won't accept players who don't want to use their cameras.** This is an interactive game, not a podcast, I want to see the disappointment on your face when you roll that nat 1. Discord is also my only means of communication with you. If I put information in the Discord or message you directly, I expect you to at least look at it.
Tech savvy and experienced online players preferred. This is a digital game that uses digital tools. You must be familiar with your character sheet and how to make rolls on the VTT. My pet peeve is playing tech support and repeating instructions. I use Foundry VTT for maps, tokens, character sheet management, and full 5e compendium. Experience with Foundry is preferred, but not mandatory. I will provide instruction and videos on using the program. I can also import character sheets and support dice rolls from DND Beyond (disclaimer: I don't personally use DDB. You can use it, but things may get complicated with rewarded magic items and boons)
Hey again, I'm Brad. I love theatre and the performing arts. I dabble in graphic arts inasmuch as my hobby requires. I'm a writer and improvisor and actor. My first character was a bard, can you tell? I grew up on video games from Super Nintendo thru all the PlayStation generations. I love the cinematic interactive storytelling of video games. I started playing D&D in 2020, but I was always the type of kid who *would* play D&D. So now, as an adult I get to be a kid again. If this resonates with you, if you were a weird nerdy kid in the arts and you just want to spend a few hours on Saturday mornings playing some D&D in a safe space, let me know.

Hello Brad, I read your full post and am interested to follow you into this. Here are my responses:

Cheets (he/him). I'm a player that likes immersive roleplaying, going deeper into my characters thoughts and motivations and engaging with the world meaningfully and interacting with NPC, players, and the environment. I enjoy examining scenes closely, noticing details, and looking for clues, traps, hidden meanings, or story threads. I also enjoy tactical aspect of combat - looking ahead, looking for synergies with the environment and players. I'm a collaborative planner, talking through plans with others, and using creativity and problem-solving.
- what's your favorite class(es) to play? Tell me an epic story about one of your characters
Ranger, Druid and Rogue.
In the shadowed alleys of Imberlur, a sprawling city known for its tangled politics and hidden wealth, Vaeril Duskryn made his name not with noise, but silence. A drow rogue of calculated grace, he slips through the veins of the city like smoke—unseen, unheard, unforgettable.
Vaeril's signature weapon is a curved scimitar with an unknown name, an heirloom given by a close relative. The blade bears faint etchings in Deep Elvish that speak of a pact: “Strike in shadow, bleed for truth.” Vaeril only has a few kills with the scimitar, and it leaves behind no wound—only silence and a strange, ghostly mark on the body.
Operating in the web of Imberlur's upper and lower tiers, Vaeril is equal parts thief and reluctant avenger. He is learning to specialize in infiltrating the specific places: nobles’ keeps and guarded archives. But while his fingers are nimble, his mind is sharper—always seeking not just treasure, but truth. He believes secrets are the most valuable currency, and he trades them carefully.
Vaeril works best with a team—not out of need, but because he knows that even in a city of shadows, no one survives alone. And besides, someone has to help explain the plan before everything goes wrong.
- what was my first character I played?
I played a druid. It was not a deep experience and one day I would like to return to a druid and play it fully.
- pitch to me a character design you want to play
I’d like to play Galen Oakfield, a young and inexperienced ranger from a quiet village called Bramble Hollow. He’s not a hardened warrior or a seasoned scout—yet. He’s a wide-eyed, curious tracker who’s left home for the first time to explore the world, driven by a quiet need to prove himself and a sincere love of nature.
Galen’s grounded in a rural, naturalistic upbringing. He’s respectful of the land, and he’s not the type to rush in with swords drawn—unless others are threatened. His story and playstyle are built around investigation, thoughtful exploration, and growing into someone greater, which I hope fits well in a campaign with narrative depth and meaningful decisions.
Role in the Party: - Supportive Scout: Galen’s great at tracking, examining scenes, and identifying natural or environmental features others might miss. He’s less of a frontliner, more of a quiet observer and tactician, especially in unfamiliar terrain. - Collaborative Explorer: I enjoy working as a group to think through obstacles—searching, probing, and planning together. Galen is the kind of character who values the ideas of others and asks questions before rushing ahead. - Combat-Ready and Creative: Galen fights best from range but carries a scimitar and bow. While he's capable in combat, he often looks for clever or subtle solutions before resorting to force. - Galen’s scimitar, is a family heirloom that supposedly holds a deeper connection to a hidden glade or druidic order. I’d love to weave this into the world’s lore if that’s something you’re open to—it could be a minor mystery Galen slowly uncovers over time.
Additionally, he’s never been beyond his home woods, so every dungeon, ruined keep, or distant city will feel truly new and awe-inspiring to him. That wonder and nervous excitement is a big part of how I’ll play him.
I’m interested in developing Galen slowly, allowing for growth from a novice into a seasoned ranger shaped by what we encounter.
Hello there!! I'm Leon and my pronouns are He/Him. Ive been playing dnd fooooor 8 years now? I'm a former theater kid who was chronically cast as background character number 5 (not even background character number 1 😔). I'm hobbyist character artist, I love drawing my own and other people's characters! My main passion in dnd is role play, I love making allies and even more enemies through the party's stupid decisions haha.
I have so many favorite classes to play, but to just pick a few I love paladin and cleric (can you tell I like playing support in video games?) My favorite all time character was Emelle, my beloved paladin of devotion. The campaign started in the afterlife, and Emelle died protecting the prince that he loved. But you think death would stop his devotion? No, he was a good and loyal guard dog. He went against his religion to make a deal with a devil just to be resurrected so he could be with his cherished prince. Hijinks ensued, and eventually in the end Emelle retired with the prince to a small cottage away from the queen that wanted them dead. I love Emelle, if you cant tell.
Your first character was the same as me, a bard! I played a bard of eloquence (i think, its been a few years haha). His name was Tabris and he was pure sunshine.
I have so many character ideas I've been dying to play with. There's the fathomless warlock/rogue hoping to find his missing sister (fitting for the sea theme haha), the chronurgy wizard trying to prove hes the best, the long suffering fighter just attempting to keep his idiots alive, so many its hard to pick just one! Im a character idea factory, and it all depends on what the party comp already is, I can work in many roles.
I enjoy playing characters who are grounded in conviction — people who protect, endure, and act not out of ambition, but duty. I like building characters with emotional depth and inner stillness, the kind who may speak little but mean every word.
As a player, I’m drawn to stories with moral weight and natural tension. I play to uphold the table's dynamic, and I especially enjoy when a character's code or past shapes their choices in the present. I’m here for the long arc — not just the battles, but the meaning behind them.
What’s your favorite class(es) to play?
Paladin is my favorite class — not just for the smites, but for what it represents. A paladin isn't just a warrior; they’re a walking standard. Someone who chooses restraint in a world that rewards cruelty.
Tell me an epic story about one of your characters -
One of my favorite characters is a goliath who once held up a collapsing mountain pass. He lived. His younger brother, Corren, did not. He had been called a hero ever since, but he doesn’t feel like one. He walks the world now as a living bastion — not to fight for glory, but to make sure no one else bears the weight of failure the way he does.
What was your first character you played?
My first character was also a protector-type was a fighter. I leaned into that sense of justice and wanted to be the one who stepped between danger and my party. I didn’t know the rules well, but I knew I wanted to play someone who stood their ground.
Pitch to me a character design you want to play -
A lawful good clericc named Mahrin whose the kind of guy who doesn’t talk much — but when he does, people shut up and listen. He’s a priest of a moon god nobody prays to anymore. Used to be temples, calendars, a whole rhythm to life built around the moon’s pull. That all disappeared when the King locked the seasons in place. Now it’s just Mahrin, some cracked prayers, and a belief that won’t die.
- what's your name and preferred pronouns? Tell me about yourself as a player and artist
My name is Cameron (He/Him) you can use my name or my Screen name I don't mind, and as I player I enjoy the idea of synergy of other players and often build my characters around a group dynamic. Though I struggle with RP in terms of coming up with a character I do enjoy theater of the mind and will often try to get into a character. - what's your favorite class(es) to play? Tell me an epic story about one of your characters
In terms of the usual classes I find myself drawn towards Warlock, Rogue, and Fighter. I do dabble in not non-normal classes also, I have played a Blood Hunter once or twice, but the 3 is what I lean towards mostly, but that won't stop me from creating characters of different classes as well. I forgot the name of him but I remember his impact. I had a lower level bard that died early into his career, but in dramatic flair. This Halfling Bard, during a particularly hectic goblinoid raid on a tower that he and the party was involved in, before his final moment threw himself out of the tower to land in front of an Ogre battering rammer and engaged it in combat while the party was in the process of catching up to the battle. Being smaller than the brute had its advantage as it allowed time for the party to engage it and we got it low enough for the party to finish it off, but my bard didn't get to see it. In his final moment he was launched into the air and before becoming a red smear on the pavement he was able to land a critical blow on the ogre damaging it heavily (Literally 1hp remaining), but not enough to finish it. The ram that the ogre was using as its weapon splattered the bard as a vengeful slam instantly killing him (It also rolled a crit). - what was my first character I played?
A Drow elf rogue. It was my first game of D&D and It was years ago and he didn't have a big impact, but he was my first glimpse into D&D
- pitch to me a character design you want to play
Hear me out. A shadar-kai Bloodhunter by the name of Kael'Tharis. Now that may seem overwhelming, but the gist of this character is basically a vengeful cursed elf from the shadow fell set out to hunt evil unnatural creatures. This can change depending on setting but think Elven Witcher.
If this doesn't work I could create something else, but this is something I've had on the backburner in my character list. Also as a heads up (I do not own the Foundry VTT as I cannot afford it at the moment, so since you are able to integrate DDB I will be using that until I can make the change.)
