I'm looking to start a run of "The Infinite Staircase"
Game: Dungeons & Dragons 5E (2024 edition preferred). Grid-based combat with tactical turn-by-turn encounters. RAW-focused with occasional use of Rule of Cool or Rule of Good Roleplay.
Format: Online play via Roll20 or D&D Maps with Discord for voice (and optional video).
DM Experience: 5 years DMing 5E, including both 2014 and 2024 editions. Patient and committed to creating a fair and engaging game. Players of any experience level welcome.
Location: East Coast, USA (GMT-4) — used for scheduling sessions.
Party Size: Ideal party: 4 -6, Prefer some level of Experience from players. Must be at least 18 years old.
Commitment: weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Each session runs approximately 2-3 hours, starting between 8:00–9:00 PM EST/EDT. No scheduled breaks; 3 players must be present for session to take place.
About the Game
Rules Mostly RAW 5E content (Player’s Handbook and official WotC materials). No Homebrew races, classes, or subclasses. Multiclassing limited to one per character. Eberron content mostly restricted; changelings and artificers allowed only with DM approval. Characters should fit the Swordcoast/Graymark settings.
Combat Grid-based, tactical. Flanking rules and critical hit/failure tables used. Expect both easy and deadly encounters. Combat outcomes influenced by roleplay and dice.
Realism The game world is consistent, logical, and consequences-based. Player choices impact story and NPC behavior. Encumbrance, supplies, and consumables are meaningful but not micromanaged.
Session Flow (Approximate) Sessions mix roleplay, exploration, and combat. XP and loot awarded through encounters, milestones, and roleplay. Magic items earned based on story, milestones, or character loyalty. Roleplay will not be allowed to take over or sidetrack the entire session. Aim for some type of combat each session.
What Players Can Expect from the DM
Fair, engaging, and story-driven gameplay where choices matter. Sessions are prepared but flexible, with RAW 5E rules plus occasional Rule of Cool. Inclusive, respectful, and PG-13 table—no NSFW, serious romance, graphic violence, intense horror. Loot, magic items, and leveling follow the story. Consequences are real, combat and exploration can be deadly, and player creativity is encouraged. You’ll get guidance, but tracking your own abilities and resources is your responsibility.
Player Expectations
Respect the DM and fellow players; no metagaming. No backseat DMing.
Stay focused during sessions; minimal distractions.
Bring character sheets, dice, and necessary materials.
Track your own abilities, HP, and resources.
Encourage collaboration, storytelling, and fun.
Accept consequences for in-game choices.
Keep out-of-character chat in Discord text only.
No NSFW/sexual content; PG-13 level gameplay outside combat.
I've never charged for running anything, that being said - DMing does require a certain level of preparation and if you wanted to pay for my services - I won't turn you down =).
