Welcome to the Sword Coast! I hope you enjoy your stay, don't mind the Dragons that dot the sky or the recent rumors of a growing cult!
Hello, my name is Skyler, you may call me Sky. I have been playing DnD for about 8 years. I have mostly been a DM for most of them. With that said every DM does have a unique style, I tend to prefer roleplay and character interactions when it comes to TTRPG's, characters is what makes a TTRPG for me enjoyable, not the just the story. Generally I have ran Homebrew games, and have ran half of a few modules before I started to adjust things in the story to fit the players and their characters. ______________________________________________________________________________
Players?
I am looking for roughly 4-5 players, that’s it. New players of course are always welcomed to my table, as well as some Veterans. ______________________________________________________________________________
Backstory
With that all said and done, I do highly encourage backstories. Backstories is the fundamental and glue to what makes a character, well unique. I do ask you try and make it somewhat fit in the world setting, which is the sword coast. But I am more than down to add lore to the world, it is a setting after all, and I am more than happy to change things about the lore in the area as I don't know all the official lore. I do ask, please no space stuff, as I don't personally think it will fit in the setting all to well. As for length, you don't have to write me a novel, I will read the backstory and try implement it. If it is novel size, I am afraid I won't be able to get your vision into the story of the game itself and I can feel that is frustrating for both the player and DM generally my limit, is roughly 5 pages max, anything past that, please make a small summary of it as well. ______________________________________________________________________________
Module
I plan on running the Tyranny of Dragons campaign. While a rather intimidating campaign, that most players claim to be fairly railroady and difficult to play. I have adjusted the story so that it feels as railroady and not outright kill you because of luck, as those are not the most enjoyable games from my experience, and from the wise words of experienced from past players. With that said though, I do ask that you do not look into the module as some elements will not change about the story, and will help avoid spoilers. But do not be shocked if you have played through it, and some elements are different. ______________________________________________________________________________
Why pay instead of being free?
The biggest question, How much? To keep things simple, $15 per session with the first session and session 0 being free.
There are really two big reasons in my opinion why I have decided to make this not a free to play.
Effort; I put quite a bit of effort into my games, working in backstories and trying my best to make the experience as fun as it is for everyone as it is for me. I generally at the end of my sessions I will ask if there are areas that needs to be improved, if something doesn't make sense that does need to be cleared up in a later session or the next session. I am always looking at improving my style to make it the best game possible.
Sustainability; I mean this by two different ways. The first way is my own spending on the game, time is money as everyone knows. Paying for some of these benefits do take a toll on my wallet. The second reasoning, is to try and keep players, I am sure those who have played online before have played games where players are in and out, which creates strange moments in games. Almost as if the story is unfinished with that character which sucks. Paying gives people the incentive to stay, it is almost like paying for a service or subscription. ______________________________________________________________________________
Session 0
Every TTRPG, should have a session 0. This is where we will be talking about the expectations in the game. Some basic rules that I've changed in the game to try and prevent any confusion. Not only that we will talk about characters and concepts. If there is something you want to do, simply telling me what you want to try and do, I will work with you, either in your free time, or via discord message to get a character hammered out. This is also a great point where you can ask me some questions. I will answer them to my best of my ability. In addition to having a session 0, this is a free session. I don't see a point in making someone pay when we are simply discussing expectations and ruling. If anything this will take to roughly an half an hour to an hour. ______________________________________________________________________________
What will we be using?
We will be using two different websites, Dndbeyond, and Roll20. I am very familiar with Dndbeyond, and understand the tools decently enough. This will also allow me to easily add homebrew items to players inventories. Not only that I think it makes character creation a little easier, than the charactermancer in Roll20. In addition I do have a lot of books on Dndbeyond so going through there might be easier. Roll20 will be used as our map space, I think it does a better job than Dndbeyond it is also the one i'm more familar with. Of course we will need a place to be able to talk, Discord will be used to allow communication to be easier and much more smooth.
With that all said, I will not be using the new rulings, as I am not very familiar with them, and also don't generally like some of the changes. But I am open for some discussion on the matter.

Good question, we would be playing at starting at Wednesday 1PM-4PM (MST).
If you're interested please leave a response here or private message me there is generally a "interview" process, just to ensure compatiability.
