THE SETTING:

You are a member of the Ash Walkers, not so much an organization as it is a profession these days. Ohr is dying a slow death, nights grow longer and colder and the prying eyes of the things from beyond the veil are slowly finding their way to the surface of our world. Menos, the Sefirot and divine being of men sought to usurp the other gods after Hastur's defeat. He failed and as a result of that failure, the greatest human nation to ever flourish was destroyed. The gods have left the world and now only ashen skies, freezing nights, and blood-curdling screams of the dead and dying are here to remind us of our ancestor's failures and hubris.

Now as one of the Ash Walkers, you are tasked with entering the Old Empire to find ancient relics and arcane knowledge long thought lost. It is here that you will find the secrets to salvation, you must look to the past to save our future. The city that spans thousands of miles hides too many secrets to count. Abandoned ruins, strongholds of inhuman power, foul temples now filled with cultists of dark gods, degenerate and cannibalistic tribes of men and an underbelly ruled by alien monstrosities. The Ash Walkers seek bold men and women to join them. You will be defined by your ambitions and you must be wary of the challenges ahead of you, but you can never falter. This is your one and only chance to make a name for yourself.

YOU WILL PROBABLY ENJOY THIS GAME IF...

• You're okay with house rules that expand on the game fairly heavily. We use 'Darker Dungeons' features, such as the addition of Stress, needing to keep up with food, drink, etc. Some of these make the game more difficult. We also use a critical roll table and fumble chart. The maximum of two results (A Nat 20), followed by a (Nat 100) can result in instant death.
• You want a large sandbox role-playing game where you can explore a massive ruined city, multiple continents, and countless deadly dungeons.
• You're okay with change. We're often adding in new class archetypes, races, maps, lore, etc. This is a constantly evolving project and sometimes that means we need to make updates to balance certain things or to ensure a fun gaming experience for our game masters and players.
• The world doesn't adhere to 'levels'; you may very well be adventuring into territory where a powerful troll has made his home. Just because you're level 1 doesn't mean he's going to scale to the level of your adventuring party. He might kill you easily. It's up to players to know when to run.
• You enjoy old school meat grinders, where traps are deadly, the world is dangerous, cruel and evil men are terrifying, and monsters? Monsters are the truly horrifying beasts of the night that pose monumental challenges. Come prepared for anything.
• If you want to help us create a world while we play games together. We reward players who world build and submit content to our website with 'Patron Points' that allows them new features and bonuses for their characters.
• IF you LOVE detailed and gruesome combat descriptions and gore.
• If you enjoy Dark Souls and Bloodborne. This setting is cruel and relentless. This is not a heroic world.
• The Meta-Game. I'm talking about features like 'Inspiration' that has no other point of being in the game other than because it's a fun mechanic and a way to reward the players for playing their characters well. We've gone a step further and have created a number of achievements, land ownership, and a few other systems that you're welcome to take part in but it's totally fine if you don't.

YOU WILL PROBABLY QUIT AFTER THE FIRST SESSION IF...

• You're looking for a 100% genuine 5e experience set in the Forgotten Realms.
• You're a rules lawyer or you read through the monster manual while we play the game.
• If you've actually read this post please post 'silverstrand' in your post before posting your character ideas to be acknowledged.
• If you don't like the idea of being able to shoot a goblin in the face with a flintlock pistol.
• If you're playing a character who is evil or more interested in their own goals than that of the parties, it's okay to be the renegade outsider but not if it means your goal is to back-stabb or kill the party in the process.

I like to be called Frances and use to ponder the streets and pickpocket here and there either out of necessity or joy. I am a thief and stealing was all I know and escaping was life or death for me. I'm not the bravest nor the smartest but I am the quickest. Anything that helps me get by these harsh times is fine by me. I only need a select few "friends" to accomplish big jobs. Then one day while doing a job at some old abandoned aristocrat's mansion I found a piece of paper that simply called to me like it's some undeniable trap I had no choice to look at and it said....."Silverstrand".

Hope you guys like my little backstory and willing to alter it for the sake of the story. Hoping to join have lots of fun with the story and you guys. I'm from Los Angeles California and my name is Carlos.

I currently live in Manila which means I am about 12 hours ahead of EST. Is there the option for PbP or is it only discord.

We generally only use discord for games, Grant. That said we do have RP channels as well.

I really like the idea of this world and setting and would be glad to join.
I am not sure about the time though, it's quite a bit earlier for me, so not sure if I could join that early especially on week-days.

I have several characters that would be ready and can be fitted into campaign, however not sure about races? Would half-drow or loxodon be to outlandish?
I can make a human character for campaign, that is not a problem, as of back story I tend to build it fuller as character progresses.
I do tend to go on more chaotic and/or evil or at least neutral alignment but pulling pranks or being sarcastical with other party members is limit even to the most chaotic evil of my creations.

Have used discord for years in gaming and if time suits would be happy to join the adventure.

I think it would be fun to play in a large living world. I have a few different ideas for characters. One being a bounty hunter and would just need to figure out how to construct him. I think playing a druid trying to fix a broken world would be fun, out cast  sorcerer.Or the zeolite barbarian trying to convince people that no we are not abandoned by the gods. Do you know where one can find access to the midgar heroes handbook to look at the classes inside?  Silverstrand

As far as concepts go my main one is of a Genasi or Triton someone on a long arduous journey both within themselves and with the every dying world around, to crave a place of temporary peace for themselves, to step slowly away from the life of constant danger. Though they cannot deny they enjoy the thrill of throwing themselves headlong into the dangers of this world cleaning it of its evils little by little, they can truly never let go of this lust of blood that scratches at the edges of their mind, wanting to be released to be fed they hold onto what little peace they can afford themselves to curb this mania.
