Game: D&D 5e, homebrew Group type: Online (Discord, Roll20) Experience: Semi new DM. Location/Timezone: EST, however we have a few MST stationed players. Schedule: Looking for either a Monday PM game, starting around 7:30. Or Saturday, 10pm to whenever. We're currently testing schedules to find the best one that'll work. Roles sought: Looking for Two players for right now, possibly more in the near future. I have 4 currently.
Game style: We enjoy Roleplay and often seek that out within a session, however we try to balance between combat, Roleplay and "chill" moments.
Yeah, we're doing a Sci Fi homebrew, surprising, right? I've already started the campaign, we're on Episode two starting this Monday. But we are looking for more friendly players to join us on this epic adventure through space. With a building Story, side missions and personal character goals I'm hoping to bring a new type of style compared to the average DnD experience. My players and I are building a Galaxy together, and I want you to be a part of it.
15 years after the near destruction of Earth. Humanity was lifted into the stars by a mysterious force. A new Military structure was formed, nations grew together, united under one banner. Technology advanced further than dreams could imagine. Colonies formed on distant planets. But the Galaxy remains a dark place, full of the very thing that brought destruction to Earth. Humanity finally reaches out of their System, but what they find....is something far beyond thought. Will Humanity stand and ascend through the stars? Or will they go extinct like they should have many years ago? Entering the 24th century, the outcome of humanity rests in your hands. Feel confident enough? They can smell your fear..
Sol's Ascension is based in the Milky Way Galaxy and can be compared to that of Mass Effect or Stellaris. However, the campaign is not a direct copy of these examples but more of an inspiration, a goal (but it won't end like ME3 did...trust me..).
I will not be explaining the campaigns story or the origin here in the open (cuz that'd ruin the fun.), but will gladly answer questions. Players who join will be given the full run down of prologue and backstory. I have a few classes available, such as Soldier and the subclasses of Marine, Medic, Shocktrooper, technician, and many more that will be unlocked as Act 1 progresses giving the PCs the chance to have different characters who specialize in different things. Eventually there will be variety among the party. For example: One mission may come up where it requires a scientist to examine an artifact on a completely new planet, so the players will need a team of soldiers and one player to be a scientist in order to complete the mission, or...you can just screw the scientist idea and just do the mission as Marines..and see where that goes.
There's a vast Galaxy out there, that the players themselves can shape. I do not like to railroad my players, however I trust they will keep the story line and not say "Hey let's go into that black hole! For the fun of it." I don't have to explain why that's a bad idea...I hope. The players I currently have are welcoming and friendly, I've known them for a few years or more and they've been with me in other campaigns I've created. They enjoy this one so far and are eager to see where it goes. I use roll20 and go heavy into my maps, making them realistic, because I want my players to explore and to check things out and touch alien flora or...aliens themselves. I also use light music in the background to set the mood, I also use voices to RP certain NPCs to give a more unique feel. I already have a Solar System set up for the players, so they can see where they are as well as planetary information of certain planets they've been to.
I am hoping that this will attract some attention, I am looking for players who are new, or new ish, vets are accepted as well! However, I am semi new to DMing and this Sci Fi is new to me as well which allows the players to help me create Lore, or suggest ideas that I can implement into the campaign to make it more enjoyable and to allow the players to actually feel like their opinion matters and that they and their characters are shaping the Galaxy and not just me.
If you have any questions, or need more information please contact me through DM here or on discord Krallyk#5588 I would be glad to answer them to the best of my abilities. I am not a hardass, I am here to enjoy the memories and the occasional Nat 20s. Having a friendly group who loves to Roleplay and see the crazy combat is a goal I am longing to reach. So, with all this being said (since I prolly typed too much.), do you see yourself in the stars of the epic campaign: Sol's Ascension?
For classes, currently Soldier which offers a variety of subclass (Gunner, marine, Shocktroop, etc), there's also a Technician class available, which dives into the subclasses of Medic, and a "Robomancer" of sorts. As for now, since we are beginning the campaign, only a few classes are acceptable. Once we move further into the campaign and the players progress the story to a certain point, the option will be made available to create a scientist class aboard the ship, or just simple crew, etc. To create a more diverse role play experience. I hope that answers your question, if not I'll try again haha

Interesting what are my options?
