Fair warning, based on where we're at in the campaign, we're looking for a player to play a very specific type of character.
*Please read details below*
What We Are Looking For
We just lost the healer of our group and would like to find a replacement. *Ideally* this healer would be a follower of Bahamut (fits thematically really well) and would be a member of the Lords Alliance (though you can choose any faction you'd like).
Looking for a causal player that is: collaborative, upbeat personality, and willing to play a supportive role in combat and social encounters.
There is no room in our game for judgement, ridicule, trolling, or any sort of poor/negative social interactions in and out of game. *We are strictly looking for a friendly player that is kind and empathetic.*
About The Me
I'm a newer GM that's been running this campaign for about a year and a half. My style is to promote collaboration between the group, as well as, supporting and empowering each player. I'm strict with the Rules As Written, but also very forgiving and lenient while employing the Rule Of Cool. I do some voice acting. I will never claim to be great at it, but there are certainly attempts. 😂
I really, really try to play RAW as much as possible, but I'm willing to homebrew some things if it's balanced and serves the narrative well (whether it's your own narrative or the larger story). If we need to make a house rule, we create and vote on it together as a group.
The reason I don't want to charge is because I'm an amateur and I really just want to grow and develop my skills as a GM. Simply looking for people to go on the journey with me.
About The Campaign
We are playing a dragon themed campaign with a mix of homebrewed and published adventures, set in the Sword Coast. This is a classic high fantasy, high magic adventure between the draconic forces of good and evil with Tiamat trying to take over the material plane, i.e. your world. Think the Hobbit meets GoT-lite with silly, comedic situations sprinkled in there.
We play into the 5 Factions and everyone in the group is apart of a faction. You would be free to choose whichever one you want, and receive tangible benefits from your faction or choose not to join any of them.
You would start off at Level 6 and I would give you starting items on par with what the rest of the characters have. You are welcome to give me a wishlist or requests of items you'd like and I will either start your character with them or put them in the game for you to discover.
We have a main quest storyline which determines when players level up and will net the party powerful magic items, which are usually thematic.
We have side quests that will net the party large sums of gold/gems. These side quests usually are near or around main quests and *typically* aren't out of the way.
We have another subset of side quests that are faction based and net you average sums of gold and XP towards your faction rank to rise in importance of your faction. Each rank held by your faction will give you unique faction rewards. You would be starting at faction rank 1 of 5. The goal is to be Rank 5 in your faction by the time the main storyline is concluding.
I have a ton of documents that I can share with you to allow you to familiarize yourself with the world and I'm totally willing to help you out with any questions you have, about anything, anytime.
About The Group
We've cycled through players after different milestones of the campaign and we've finally got a solid group that's interested in playing regularly and long term (while also having the patience with me being a newer GM). I've found everyone on here!
They are very interactive with each other, have never met each other irl, and come from diverse backgrounds. The group is really chill and has a mix of old school and brand new players. We're all working professionals and some of us have families. We are all in our 20's-40's and the group is mostly comprised of males, with one female.
The group is at level 6. Ideally we would play for a few years until level 18. If everyone wants to keep playing, we can discuss at that time what to do.
Please be committed to playing long term (2-3 years)
Gameplay
Since we delve into adult themes like, alcohol, graphic violence, subterfuge, and profanity, this would be 18+ only. No romance or sexual gameplay, and no real world politics/religious talk.
As the groups GM and I set up dungeons with lots of puzzles, traps, challenging combat encounters, and fun exploration. Social and combat encounters will have RP which is always encouraged, but not required from the players. I probably do the most amount of RP-ing but I also think that's kind of expected in most games. The goal is to let everybody's character have time to shine in what their good at and have fun and challenging adventures! No pressure on having to play a character and do voice acting if you're not comfortable. You do you and play your character however you want.
I sometimes use 3rd party content and alter monsters to try and avoid metagaming as much as possible. I like to use top down tokens instead of portraits. There is an in-game economy and there are many shops akin to a rpg video game experience. I've set up animations and some light automation, usually for helping everyone (including me) with easily forgettable features or to help speed up combat.
Apps
We use Foundry to play the campaign and dndbeyond for character creation & level up. Everything is web based and free. You're more than welcome to create your own token using heroforge. We also use Zoom to log in for sessions. Camera is encouraged but not required by any means. We use Discord for scheduling (when needed), game updates, voting on polls, and sharing memes.
If you have a gaming computer, you'll be fine. If you don't, you will need a computer that has average memory (8mb-16mb) and is relatively new to run Foundry VTT with the animations.
Schedule
We play weekly on Sundays at 12pm-4pm Central Time. We are pretty flexible with session days and times as long as it's on the weekend and usually opt to skip a week if the whole party isn't available, but I will sometimes play their character (with the players consent) during a session that their out.
Process Of Joining
1) Please fill out the information below in a Direct Message to me.
2) If selected, we will set up a meeting on Zoom. *Camera/video required for initial meeting*
3) When you are selected to join the campaign, we will have a Session 0 of going through character creation/backstory, catching up on campaign history and lore, give an overview of Foundry VTT and let you see the world, sharing links to apps & supporting documents, agreeing to social boundaries, and reviewing any requests you have for magic items and your narrative (if any).
4) After the Session 0, we will both have some homework. If you want to create your own token, you'll need you to create one on hero forge, or you can find a top down token online. I will set up your character in Foundry and get you prepared for your first session.
Then it's time to slay some dragons!
