About Me

Hello folks! I am Joel, and I've been passionate about Role Playing Games for many many years now. I've worked for the video game industry in the South East Asian region and I am a huge fan of musical theater. I've been introduced to the world of D&D quite late (I started as player in the 2nd quarter of 2019) and have been DMing tabletop sessions for a close group of friends and been doing one-shots in online D&D communities. I've been a part of the Bipolar Dice Roller Community and have been getting great support and training in running games on Roll20.

Even though I am fairly new as a professional DM - my commitment to my players is to be 100% engaged, focused and adaptable during our sessions. I'm also available and very easy to approach for any questions even outside our game sessions. Moreover, your feedback as player would be always appreciated for my continuous improvement. Every session, I want to have the best gaming experience with you, and with your help - I definitely think this can be achievable!

I am looking for passionate and committed players to start this DnD journey with me. As a DM, I more well-versed in tactical combat encounters, and themes on exploration but I am going to give my all and won't shy way for the occasional RP encounters. The goal of each session, is to have a good balance and more importantly - to have a FUN session! Session 0 would always be free for you to get a sense whether I would be the type of DM for you.

Game Details

- Weekly sessions every Tuesdays at 7am EDT

- Sessions last for up to 4 hours

- Payment: This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $10 per session via Paypal (+5% transaction fee). Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.

- Level Range: 1 - 10

- Group Size: 4-6 Players

- Combat/Roleplay Balance: My games feature a healthy balance between the two key facets of Dungeons and Dragons. Murderhobo diplomacy is discouraged, as is pacifism.

- Bullying, racism, homophobia and talk of politics are not permitted during the game session.

- Method of Communication: Voice Chat via Discord is compulsory to participate in the game.

Why pay for a game?

I am often asked what the point is in paying for a game and I know that most people who ask that question have already decided their opinion on doing so. However, for those of you still on the fence, allow me to offer you the benefits of a paid game:

- The Game Master is financially obligated to show up and give their best.

- The Players are financially obligated to show up and not let their money go to waste.

- Exclusivity. The competition for spaces in free games is astronomically high, there are too many players and not enough games.

- Taking payment allows me to work on my games full time, this ensures all the required preparation is done and constant contact is possible.

- Material costs are covered by your payment. Buying resources to use in games is covered by the DM and access to all of Roll20's content is available to you via Compendium Sharing.

- As an additional perk - You will also have access to all D&D sourcebooks FOR FREE electronically through DnD Beyond as long as you are part of my current campaign / player pool (I'm a Pro DnD Beyond Subscriber as well)

- Pro features are available. API scripts, visual effects and standard resources are all covered by the DM's subscription

Character Creation

Any setting relevant official sourcebook or online resource are permitted for use. Homebrew content must be cleared by myself personally prior to character creation.

If you wish to play an evil character in a party constituting non-evil characters, you must come up with a watertight reason for that character cooperating with the party.

You can use any method to attain your stats. When rolling you must do it where the rest of the group can see it. Rerolls are only permitted if your stats average 11 or lower (rounded down) or you highest stat is a 14 or lower. You only get to reroll once, you may then choose which of the two sets of rolls you wish to use or you can choose one of the other methods for attaining stats.

Backstory: Having a backstory is not mandatory, but it is definitely encouraged! If you wish to write one I will do my best to incorporate it into the main story (backstories intrinsically linked to the flavour of the campaign are gold dust!).

What You Are Looking For: Committed group (I'm 28) ready to get weird and quirky. Love crunchy content and player choice being validated or punished realistically. I'm an only child (now married) but I love playing single player games and getting completely immersed in worlds and lore. I take notes and have always tried my best to learn new systems. I have 180 hours on Roll 20. Played Starfinder with a group lvls 1-12. I've downloaded 'Beyond 20' and VTT Enhancement Suite but I've yet to use them since I've never played with a DnD group online.

*** Note, I have 50+ characters made on DnD Beyond so I'm ready to fill as needed. If there was one caveat I guess it's that I love to multiclass 2-3 times in the build. Sometimes its fluff reasons, sometimes its munchkin crazy build reasons. I'm aware we're only going to 10 so there has to be an early payoff to contribute to the group. I can keep it to two.

Why Draconic was the language of Officers. (As in why Five speaks Draconic)

Analogous to the phrase/idiom/idea that the Inuit have 500 words/ways of describing snow. Dragons have 500 words/ways of describing their Horde of Treasure

-Distinguishing just the types of coins (even when made of the same material such as silver and gold) from different Kingdoms, Age's, Era's - Some would mint the gold coins thinner (mass) if they wanted to keep the economy stimulated and 'cheat' inflation Not as many words as in Dwarvish but enough to distinguish the mark/make and quality of craftmanship of Armor and Weapons.

A Little Info About Your Character: Mei has always loved to sing. It's almost a fault, as it annoyed her parents and siblings so much. Mei always sung sad songs for people. She thought they were dramatic and eeriely beautiful.

But when she was 15, her house burned down. Her parents and brother were inside. She was devastated. She had lost all but her sister, Lizzy.

After that, Mei only sung cheerful songs. She made it her mission in life to make people happy. Anytime she could put a smile on someone's face was a time she could smile without grief.

This desire to make people smile led to a desire to fix anything causing unhappiness. She began to train to use her music as magic. Soon, she was scaring away local bandits and orcs. They had to gather in larger groups to attack, and it just wasn't worth it.

Mei's sister Lizzy has always supported her. If she was lost, it would ruin Mei's perfect little world that she has right now.
