so I want to make a better sun soul monk but want some others input on it as well, they are not major changes for the most . . . . lvl 17 rework because it sucks worse then my grammar
1 - I think the sun bolts should be able to be used as a bonus action as well so you can at least throw 1 additional sun bolt if you don't want to do 2 with a ki point.
2- much like the light cleric at level 3 I think you should get warding flare ( you can interpose divine light between yourself and an attacking enemy. When you are attacked by a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll, causing light to flare before the attacker before it hits or misses. An attacker that can't be blinded is immune to this feature. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. ) This uses a reaction ----- Starting at 6th level, you can also use your Warding Flare feature when a creature that you can see within 30 feet of you attacks a creature other than you.
3 . burning hands is fine - let it be radiant or fire
4 . searing sunbeam (3ki) as an action- A beam of brilliant light flashes out from your hand in a 5-foot-wide, 60-foot-long line. Each creature in the line must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 8d6 radiant damage and is blinded until your next turn. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and isn't blinded by this spell. Undead and oozes have disadvantage on this saving throw.
5. cap stone - lvl 17 - Sun Burst - as an action - twice per long rest ?
Brilliant sunlight flashes in a 60-foot radius centered on you . Each creature of your choice in that light must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 12d6 radiant damage and is blinded for 1 minute. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage and isn't blinded by this spell. Undead and oozes have disadvantage on this saving throw. A creature blinded by this spell makes another Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a successful save, it is no longer blinded.
This spell dispels any darkness in its area that was created by a spell.
1. I think that’s fine. I’m surprised it wasn’t an option to begin with. 2. would this be a 3rd level feature as well? I would probably not add this. 3. Agree, change wouldn’t be OP
4. First if you add this I would maybe make it a Dex save? It’s typical with AOE like Lightning Bolt. But I would probably boost Searing Sunburst’s damage by 2d6 (4d6 starting out) and add the Blinded condition here. 5. Not sure on this one. Damage might be a little high considering the blinded rider. Or you could boost Sun Shield damage and include the blinded condition for creature that hits you. or disadvantage on attack rolls to creatures in the radius that you choose when they enter the first time on a turn or start their turn there. With a save to avoid it, possibly.
But that’s just a Quick Look at it, I’m at work on break so might be a bit off in my assessment.
