Hope this is the right place for this thread... so I'm an '80s kid and as such grew up with a lot of sci-fi/fantasy cartoons that were also toys in my childhood. One of the biggies that has stuck in my mind over the years is, of course, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and its spin-off She-Ra Princess of Power, the latter of which recently got a Netflix reboot courtesy of showrunner (and D&D player) Noelle Stevenson.
During a panel at WonderCon this year, Noelle gave what she considered to be the D&D classes of the characters in her show: Adora is a fighter while She-Ra is a paladin, for example. Catra is a rogue, Bow is a fighter/bard, Glimmer is a sorcerer, etc. This, in turn, got me thinking about how to adapt other characters and the wider world of Eternia/Etheria into a D&D campaign. And now I feel like sharing those thoughts!
So here's what we have from the original panel (my personal musings on subclasses and such in parentheses):
Adora - human fighter (battle master? In the new series she seems to work best with a team)
She-Ra - human paladin (oath of redemption, maybe, since she herself was raised to serve the forces of the evil Horde, though ancients or devotion work as well)
Catra - human (tabaxi?) rogue (not sure what subclass, but assassin seems a safe enough bet)
Glimmer - human (aasimar? Her mother is basically a celestial, while her father was a human wizard or) sorcerer (divine soul, I assume)
Bow - human bard/fighter (valor/arcane archer)
Scorpia - human (?) barbarian/fighter (totem/champion)
Frosta - human barbarian (storm, presumably)
So far, so good. There are a few other characters I've had thoughts about, like Entrapta as an artificer and Perfuma as a druid, though there are plenty of others I've yet to nail down in my head. But here's where we go off-road a bit into the Eternia side of things, which will contain more of my internal ramblings... you have been warned! (Some of these may inspire future character concepts of my own.)
He-Man is a barbarian, obviously, though what subclass to pick eluded me for a while before it hit me: ancestral guardian. When he calls on "the power of Grayskull" to transform, it's not just the magic within Castle Grayskull; he's calling on the spirit of his distant ancestor, King Grayskull. Boom.
Prince Adam gave me a bit of trouble but I finally settled on bard as the best fit, since while he's perfectly capable of fighting he's not really a fighter. Play him as more of a diplomat playboy, rather than the stereotypical entertainer. Open to suggestions for which college.
Orko is a deep gnome conjuration wizard... right up until he ends up in Eternia and his remaining levels go into wild magic sorcerer, which his stats are not optimized for.
The Snake Men are (obviously) yuan-ti. Kobra Khan is probably a rogue, but the others can more or less be represented by regular MM stats, with maybe a few levels in fighter for the guys like Rattlor and Sssqueeze. Snake-Face is a reskinned medusa. King Hiss, though, I finally settled on being an oath of conquest paladin.
The Sorceress (aka Teelana… no, seriously) should be a no-brainer, but most of her powers don't necessarily fit those of published sorcerer origins; it did, however, inspire me to start thinking about a homebrew sorcerer origin that incorporates druid-ish elements similar to how divine soul taps into clerics.
Getting a bit sleepy so I'll leave it here for now, but I welcome constructive thoughts and feedback from others, and I'll be back later with more character and setting musings, including my wacky notions of a Dragonlance-esque adventuring party makeup of Randor, Duncan (Man-At-Arms) and... Skeletor!

I know this is an old thread but I'd say (beware season 4 spoilers) that Scorpio could be a warlock if she's connected to the black garnet.
