I made a completely free web app to easily print battle maps! It has the following features:
Apply and configure grid size, color, offset and also supports hexagonal maps
Project exactly which part of the dungeon you want to project unto paper, this is very useful when you have big dungeons especially with corridors and dead space, so you use less paper
Add fog of war so you can hide certain areas from your players.
Make your map black and white to save ink of course, it's not just grayscale like you have in pdf applications, but uses a minimal amount of ink.
I've been a dungeon master for quite some time. I used to always use draw on chessex mats for battles for our tabletop sessions. But unfortunately it often ends up with my players fighting battles inside of a square (a house) or a battlefield dotted with circles (a forest).
I've always been a little jealous of the beautiful maps that are used in VTT sessions (but not of the fact that they can't play in person), and they're everywhere online! They're just such a hassle to print. That's why I made this app.
I'm hoping that this can also lower the bar of entry for playing tabletop rpg's for the first time, with some nice maps. you need quite some money for all the terrain and mini's, and I'm hoping this gives a nice alternative for the terrain that you run your sessions in.
I’ve got more plans for this app, like tokens, layers, maybe ensure you can actually make maps straight in the app. Lately I've been fantasizing about 3D maps, so that's something I want to play around with to see if it's possible.
If you really like it you can support me on Patreon if you want, helps with hosting costs and gives me something back for my time.
Look forward to reading your thoughts or questions and be sure to give me feedback if you have any :)
Thanks for making this and posting it! I was just messing around, and it's pretty handy.
