You have recieved a quest from the king: venture into the deep dungeon! In it lies treasures untold... but also dangers unfathomable. Will you survive the depths?
But before you enter, you need to know the rules.
New players may come at any time. Even in the middle of a floor. New players will choose one of the kits below as starting equipment.
If an item breaks a rule, the item is higher priority.
No pvp. This is a cooperative game.
On a player turn, each player posts 1 action. It could be to attack with a weapon, use an item that requires an action, cast a spell, or do something else. If the action isn't something given by something else, I will try to come up with a possible effect for it. This makes special actions high-risk, high-reward.
If a player says they attack without picking a target, they attack the top-most enemy. The same thing happens if they pick a target that can’t be attacked, such as one that already died earlier that round, unless there is a near-identical enemy still alive.
Once everyone currenty in the dungeon has either taken their actions or left for too long, I will post monster actions. If a floor is ever cleared, I will move to the next floor and give any appropriate rewards, even if someone hasn't taken their turn yet.
Every few floors, there will be a boss. Bosses are marked with a 💀 and have more health and more complex attack patterns than most regular enemies.
If a player is reduced to 0 hp, they can't participate while at 0 and die if not healed by the end of the round. If a player dies, they can't participate until the end of the floor. At the end of the floor, they return with no other effects.
Beating bosses or other specific rooms will give the players loot, special items that are usually stronger than what they currently have. Boss loot is better than normal loot. There is a slight bias towards types of item you are currently using.
Players can equip up to 2 weapons, 1 armor, 3 special items, and 5 spells at a time. Only 1 weapon can be used a a time unless stated oterwise, including weapons that boost spells instead of dealing damage.
Melee attacks put the player at greater risk of attack by melee enemies. Ranged enemies usually ignore this. If you complan that I'm targeting you, just know that you asked for it by picking them.
Base player health is currently 20. This number will go up later as enemies get stronger.
Kits (subject to change in higher number floors to keep up with the power level of players and enemies. DM me if you have kit or item ideas):
Ranged: trainee bow (weapon, 4 ranged damage), Quiver (special, +2 damage to ranged attacks), stealthy cloak (armor, enemies are less likely to target you. Can be turned off or back on again without consuming an action)
Magic: apprentice wand (weapon, +2 damage to appropriate spells), apprentice spellbook (special, +1 spells known cap), apprentice robes (armor, +1 power to all spells), magic bolt (spell, 1 ranged magic damage, no casting limits), arcane surge (spell, 9 damage, once per floor)
Healer: mace of healing (weapon, 3 melee damage, +1 health to self or 1 ally upon hit), healing symbol (special, consumes action, heals self or 1 ally 4 hp), armor of healing (+1 to healing)

I intended the melees, if any existed, to absorb damage while the ranged and magic dish it out. Melee enemies targeting melee attackers would have helped that. Well, there’s always that chance that one will come later to help you not die to the actually hard floors. So… let’s get started!

At 1? It doesn’t matter yet, but in the future I would like targets whenever the entities are different, whether it’s 1 being on lower health than another or two different types of enemies.

Yes, Yvonne. It's specifically in the rules that you can join as healer. You are being added to the players, with healer kit.
On the next floor, you find a larger group of goblins waiting for you. One of them is carrying a bow instead of the usual goblin weaponry. (get used to goblin variants because there will be more)
I'll shoot normal goblin 1 with a magic bolt for 3 damage (or maybe 4; it says +1 power to all spells for the robes in the magic kit. Does that mean damage?)
