I'm DMing for a paladin who just hit level 3. His backstory is that he only got into adventuring because he's constantly approached by, and sometimes chased by, spirits (ghosts, etc.) He wanted a subclass that really fit that theme, and I decided to try to homebrew one that was more fitting than the official ones.
Constructive criticism appreciated. Normally I feel I can assess a homebrew rather well, but I'm not that familiar with paladins, and wasn't sure how this would be rated compared to the other subclasses. I'm mainly looking to see that mechanically it's not too overpowered or too underpowered.
Looks pretty good, although I am curious why their Spiritual Communion ability ends a creature's rage. I understand that you want for it to suppress anger, but alot of times the party wont be fighting enemies that have a rage ability. I fear that including it could make things more difficult on a friendly Barbarian in the party, if there is one

I wasn't sure if there were creatures that Raged as well, so I just threw it in for good measure. If not, it would probably be cleaner to just take it out.
I was aware it might affect teammates too though, that was deliberate. (Might be best to just reference the Calm Emotions spell, which was really the intended effect anyhow. Edit: alongside the latter effects of Protection from Evil and Good.)

I was thinking adding the effect of Calm Emotions or something similar might make a good replacement as well.
As for your issue with publishing to D&D beyond, there is a guide somewhere that can tell you how to make it so you dont get that "too similar" issue

Not a fan of the deeply non-standard Turn Undead - why didn't you just copy the standard wording? - and the other Channel Divinity is super weird, too. To be honest, your Channel Divinity sounds a lot like what you really want is Watchers for it, even though your L15 ability is literally the Devotion L15 ability. I do like the L7 aura just being Aasimar on a stick - that seems like a very straightforward aura benefit.

I'd noticed that every other paladin that had a "Turn" feature for their Channel Divinity was able to turn two or more different creature types. I really wanted to just focus on undead with this, so I figured if it was just going to be one creature type, he could at least get a little extra bump out of it, like the Oath of the Ancients.
Plus, as a DM, the idea of him turning, say, two undead, only to suddenly have two dozen more invisible apparitions appear, also trying to flee, is something I think would be a memorable scene for the party.

The other Channel Divinity effect is pretty much just so he can turn encounters with (some) angry spirits into roleplaying situations at level 3. I'm confident he'll get a kick out of it, but I feel like it should really do more....

Thanks, I usually try to keep things simple where I can. Less work for all involved.

(I did build it on DDB, but it's "too similar to Oath of Devotion" to share.) Link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MIBjS4nan0OaEdQckCO9yHV7Ccgf7bN_7JAAQRN1FUI/edit?usp=sharing
