You lay on your hay pile behind the bars of your cell in the castle dungeon in solitare. You look up after hearing the sound of stone crumble on the ground. You sit up. "It's time." You get up from your "bed" and turned around to see your friend behind a fallen stone wall.
This is a quest where you will hopefully build up from jail to ruler of water rite ,a new continent with new kingdom's that I made myself, and many more.
water rite: continent name
Aura: city based around magic and technology..... well artificers. and the gods.
Solitaire: is a city based off of the fighters guild. high defense, and strong army.
Faldar: this city has no government it is complete anarchy.
winter-star: it is the capital of water rite
Do ability scores however you want but xp is xp not milestone. Questions, concerns? Just ask
Backstory: She grew up in Faldar, fighting within the anarchy and reveling in it. She'd would make small fires grow into big ones as she sparked flames near houses. She enjoyed the sights people panicked and their attention upon her. If they caught her, they'd throw her into the pits, where she fought for freedom. Most of the time, the others would just knock the little arsonist out. She'd find herself on the pits floor and get up for another fight. When she won her first fight, over a goblin, she enjoyed it as the people cheered, more when she set the body on fire. So she stayed in the pits, earning infamy and coin, earning the nickname 'Firestarter'.
But she grew bored of the small crowds and meager coin, she wanted more. More fame to her name and be known all over. She started to fight more cruelly than before, branding her opponents with her sword set ablaze. Instead of cheers she found the people started to fear her more. She enjoyed seeing the sight of fear again. And not cause of her fire, but of herself. She reveled in it. As the fights continued, she did things her way until someone told her to throw the next fight. She was offered gold for recompense for her agreed loss, but where's the fun in that? She tortured her opponent just to rub salt in their wounds as she soundly trounces them. They did not take that well. During the night, she was bounded and gagged, taken off to the prison. Where she lies in the terrible bed until freedom comes...or maybe she did murder the other contestants for no good reason, they did tease her by calling her Flint.
Kasbin was raised in a small village outside of any major city, until he discovered his gift with magic. Untold to him his grandmother made a pact with a gold dragon which gave his family inherited magical abilities. While it seemed to have skipped a generation with his father, Kasbin found out he had them when he burnt up a quarter of their neighbors harvest. Soon after he was shipped to Aura to study with the mages where he excelled. On a trip to Solitaire Kasbin found himself in a tavern. There he drank and discussed why the mages need to be in control of Water-Rite, and to sum it up, why melee fighters should "stick to the battlefield". This didn't bode well and after the fight, that led to a table being turned to ash, Kasbin found himself hung over and in the dungeon.
Question:
Do I need to create a friend who will break me out?
Will we be playing on here or somewhere else?
I've also never played a P&P game, so I may have some learning to do. Although I have played D&D 5e for the last 2 years.
Evil campaign, you say? Sounds like an interesting campaign. Below's a character concept I have. I'm in a fair few games already, so if you need to streamline applicants I don't mind being put at the bottom of the priority list.
Backstory of why your in prison: Felix is a local street thug. He was one of those people who was smarter than the average person and knows it. However, it did lead to his sadistic want to experiment on people and see how to make things worse for people. He enjoys pain and the taste of blood, something that made those in the gang he was in somewhat intimidated by him. While he keeps this air of superiority, he is actually fairly wimpy physically.
He began to study magic after stealing a tome from an apprentice mage, but took his own flair to the learning style. After deciphering the notes, he slowly carved the arcane sigils onto his arms, leaving scars with which he could remember the pain and pleasure of casting something to harm others. He eventually got caught attempting to torture a local noble he jumped in the middle of the night, using his shiv to slowly leave defacing scars on the noble while attempting to press him for knowledge of where he can find more spells to do more dastardly things.
Things to note: I thought of an interesting way for Felix to play as a wizard without a spellbook. Instead he spends time ritually scarring himself with the arcane sigils which he can trace his hands across during his "meditation" as a method of preparing spells. It's one way of being able to play a wizard in a place where a spellbook would not be easily accessibly. Your call though.
Edit: alternate character since you were saying too many casters.
Backstory: Skyzzak is a black dragonborn who was born in the wilds of the world with only his immediate family as company. He had a standard upbringing, with an annoying little brother and a dominant elder sister. However, Skyzzak had a temper the others didn't, which one day meant that his elder sister was violently hurt over an argument. When he was old enough, Skyzzak left his home, as his temper was causing a rift between him and his loved ones, and he decided to go to the nearest town to become a mercenary. Unfamiliar with customs, he easily got on the wrong side of people immediately upon entering the town. After several brawls and poisoning a bunch of people with his breath, he was detained and eventually sentenced to imprisonment. He attempted to break out of his confines, hating this land of law, but the guards were too numerous and capable for him to escape. Now off to jail, he may come across some others who might use his anger to their advantage...
Edit Edit: added links to mock-up character sheets :-)
Backstory: Ott was part of the Carqesh tribe of lizardfolk, they were a tribe that lived by marauding and hunting living with one with nature. At the age of 14 Ott began to join the hunts and became a favourite of the the tribe showing his prowess in battle and his speed, for years he was in charge of small hunting parties and packs for fighting until he felt he was ready. He wanted to take lead of the tribe as he felt he was strong enough and brave enough to do and had allies backing him ready to stand as his guards and lieutenants when he rose to power, but he was betrayed by someone in the tribe and the night before he was ready to fight the tribe leader he was beaten and left for dead in the forests far away from the tribe. He knew then that he would need to get stronger before going back to take the pack and gain his revenge.
He was put in prison for testing his might against a small settler village, he slaughtered most of them before he was rounded up by guards and put to the cell to be ridden of.
Question: I have used Point buy for my stats I did roll numbers but I got lucky and didn't want to make it to unfair, are we going to use all the same system or are you really not bothered?
Blood hunter is aloud. If someone doing creat the common friend breaking you all out I will make them. And I don't care if everyone uses the same way to get ability scores. You can do whatever you want. And if I can't get another person on a day we will start with you 4
I am a scholar I was trained in a temple by the acolytes of Ogma, my training was going very well and I was showing great skill. But one day after training I wandered into a forbidden area of the temple and was taken over by a need to know more about magic, when I demanded to learn higher level spells I was refused and thrown out of the temple. Now it is my quest to not only know all spells and arcane knowledge but to be the strongest wizard in the forbidden realms. I went to aura to challenge the leader of the mage guild to gain training. And was thrown in jail for "harassing" the inn keeper.
