Hello. I'm looking for around 4-5 players to partake in a full-length campaign. All content is OK, just run it by me first via DM or message for confirmation first. I will be using a mix of 2014 & 2024 stat blocks, but no images or maps (as the battlefields I made are fairly simple rooms, and theatre of the mind is awesome). All players should reply at least once per day. For OOC purposes, I will create a group DM.
When applying, please provide the following: Name: Race: Background: Ability Scores + Rolling Method: Backstory: Anything else I may need to know:
All rules and rolling methods are allowed, just be sure to specify.
You will start out your journey traveling to the town of Startland to begin their lives as adventurers. The town of Startland is the town for beginning adventurers and veterans alike to come and get quests, purchase items, gather information, or just hang out. It initially began as a small little town created to help fledgeling adventurers get off their feet, but over time the town has become known as the definitive hub for adventurers of all experiences and ages. As new adventurers, you are assigned a senior adventurer to show you the ropes. However, this senior adventurer is much more than she seems.
He/Him. I am the DM, you are the player. You make the mistakes and I decide the consequences. Now, with that being said - Are you SURE you want to cast Fireball?
I'm still a bit rough on world building, so idk about adventure

Seems like fun would there be content sharing or would he have to work with what we got?
Use whatever content you have. If you'd like to use homebrew or whatever, go ahead.

What exactly do you mean by “all content is okay”? Do you mean in terms of character creation? Also what age group are you hoping for? I only play with people close to my own age, so it’s important info for me to know, personally.

Age doesn't necessarily matter to me, so long as everyone is above the age of 18.
Creation wise I mean I'll basically accept anything that you want to use to make characters. If it's homebrew, be sure to let me know via a DM.

Backstory: Kellen was born into the noble house of RookGate. His mother, Ayella, an elven scholar, died during childbirth, and his father, a hardened ex-general, never forgave him for it. Wracked with grief and resentment, his father saw only a curse in Kellen’s existence. On his fifth birthday, he was sold in secret to Lady Rose Sorala, a high-ranking priestess of the Architects—an influential order that outwardly condemned dark magic while experimenting with it behind closed doors. For eighteen years, Kellen lived as a prisoner, subjected to the sorcerous experiments of Lady Rose. She carved runes into his flesh, tested forbidden incantations upon him, and forced him to endure rituals meant to break the boundaries between life and death. His left arm became a scarred testament to her cruel work. But in secret, he studied her methods, memorizing the arcane symbols and incantations she wove. When he turned twenty-three, a chance encounter changed everything. While hunting in the woods outside RookGate, he saved the life of Frederick Von’Asture, the son of a powerful aristocrat, from a goblin ambush. As a reward, Kellen was granted an unexpected honor: noble status and his freedom. Furious at the thought of losing him, Lady Rose struck back. That night, she performed one final ritual. Kellen awoke, bound and helpless, as she spoke a Draconic incantation: "Gron ok sil. Mamfaerak ko dh." (Bind his soul forever in mind.) Pain ignited across his hands as two dark runes burned into his skin. The curse tethered him to Lady Rose’s will—an unbreakable chain. Then the dreams began. A voice, ancient and cruel, whispered from the void. "A promise must be made, a pact, a pledge, a plight." Laughter filled his mind, wrapping around him like chains of ice. The next morning, he woke with a searing pain in his right hand—one of the runes had vanished. In its place, power coursed through his veins. He ran. Taking only what he could carry, Kellen fled RookGate, but not before stealing Lady Rose’s spellbook—an artifact she had never allowed him to touch. He rode hard and fast, traveling by land and sea, until he found himself in the city of Garlgook. There, at The Idle Cook Tavern, he drank alone, drowning in the weight of his escape. That was when he met Habbit Swiftfoot, a reckless sellsword with a penchant for strong ale and stronger friendships. "You look like a man who’s seen his fair share of shite," he bellowed. "Give us your name!" Kellen hesitated, then spoke the first lie of his new life. "Kellen is dead. My name is… D’Kon." Habbit laughed, clapped him on the back, and bought him a drink. And so, with a stolen spellbook, a past steeped in blood and secrets, and a pact that bound him to an unseen master, Kellen—now D’Kon—set forth into the world, hoping to forge a fate of his own before his past, his patron, or his curse dragged him back into the dark.
Anything else i may need to know:
He is bound by a mysterious pact, though its full implications are unknown.
His stolen spellbook might contain knowledge too dangerous for him to fully understand.
He operates under the alias D’Kon, but some from his past may recognize his real identity.
Stats aren’t the greatest am I stuck with them or can I switch to standard array?
You can switch if you want

Name: Brammuth Earthshaker Race: Goliath Background: Haunted One Ability Scores + Rolling Method: 17/12/15/10/13/8 + Standard Array Backstory:
Born among the towering peaks of the Skarngrim Mountains, Brammuth Earthshaker was once the pride of his goliath clan, known for his unmatched strength and unyielding spirit. He earned his name after shattering a mountainside during a ritual trial, sending boulders tumbling like pebbles.
But his glory turned to ruin. One fateful winter, his clan was cursed. A nameless horror—a presence older than the mountains themselves—descended upon their stronghold. Shadows that should not have moved slithered through the snow, whispering in a language that clawed at the mind. One by one, his kin fell, their eyes blackened, their bodies twisted into lifeless husks.
Brammuth fought. He bellowed. He survived. But when the sun rose, he stood alone among the dead.
Now, he wanders the world, haunted by what he saw. The whispers still follow him, just beyond hearing, creeping in when the night is silent. He drinks deep of battle to drown them out, wielding his rage as both a weapon and a shield. Some call him a hero. Others, a madman. But Brammuth does not seek glory anymore—only vengeance against the darkness that took everything from him.

Race: Hill Giant Goliath Background: Farmer Ability Scores + Rolling Method: Standard Array. S 15 D 12 C 14 I 8 W 16 Ch 10
Backstory. Jed is, too human and too giant to fit in well anywhere. He offers thanks to a deity Cernnunos who grants him spells helping him thrive. Jed sometimes forgets to give thanks “Bad Jed” but not often. No family just a tolerant community. Jed considers animals to be his herds so he takes care of them.

Name: Jasmine Race: Yuan-Ti Malison (Old Pureblood ) Background: Custom Ability Scores + Rolling Method: Rolled in PMs in front of DM. Set: [14, 11,13, 12, 16, 14]
Backstory:
Born as Hessatal in a Yuan-Ti city deep within a jungle. The Yuan-Ti were once a great ancient empire but had given up their humanity and empathy in exchange for the power of the serpent and cold, remorseless judgement. Hessatal was born with something that the society deems a defect but due to her status as a Malison, she was spared immediate death. The human emotions and empathy that their ancestors had sacrificed to serpent gods so long ago somehow remained intact within her. Growing up she learned the art of the blade and her voracious appetite for knowledge led her to studying ancient magics from tomes kept in the Yuan-Ti city.
As a Malison, Hesstal was a brood-guard, tasked with guarding the eggs. One day though, man was captured and brought into the city and Hessatal was asked to guard him while the priests prepare him for horrific experiments. Hessatal talked to the prisoner and learned that he was a man from a nearby village who got lost in the jungle and wandered into Yuan-Ti territory. He was captured by the roaming guard. She felt that it was unjust for a man to be subjected to the awful fate that the priests had prepared for him when the man's only sin was getting lost. So that night, she let them man go and escorted him back to his village. However doing so meant that she would no longer have her home. What she did would be considered treasonous and she would be punished by death.
So Jasmine continued walking, no longer returning to the city. Instead there seemed to be people in this world just like the man who could be in a bad situation with no hope of salvation. She wanted to be that hope; she wanted to help those who had no one else to save them. And so she headed towards Startland. The name Hessatal was not something she really liked. It was harsh and cruel. So she took a new name, Jasmine, after her favorite flower.
Anything else I may need to know:
mechanics-wise, I will be going Oath of Ancients Paladin 7/Hex Blade X (At level 1 I am just a paladin). Lore wise though, Jasmine is an oathless Paladin. She is not an oath breaker. She gains her power through combination of her own convictions and ancient magic she learned.
One more thing: We're using milestone level ups. You can also turn off encumbrance. Don't worry about keeping track of ammo neither.

What would you say is the RP/Adventure/Combat mix?
D&D since 1984
RP is going to be a large chunk of the campaign
Combat takes a close backseat
I'm still a bit rough on world building, so idk about adventure
