This is Ioco, the ever-giving isle. Most sacred of lands, it is the closest to paradise one can achieve in life. And you're leaving it, never to return. For there is one rule in Ioco that stands over any laws put in place by its leaders. One rule that has existed ever since its discovery, almost a millennium ago. Once you come, you cannot leave, and once you leave, you cannot come. No one steps foot beyond the living water barrier that separates Ioco's fresh water from the salt water of the ocean beyond, and anyone who does can never return. Those who forsake paradise do not deserve to return to it. But you are leaving. Not because you want to, but because you must. For when Flowertime came around, there were no flowers to be seen. Not once in the history of the giving isle had flowers failed to bloom on the first of Flowertime.
The druids were highly troubled by this, but it did not immediately seem to be a problem. But the flowers never came, and neither did the fruit. The animals disappeared into their burrows, and the trees stopped growing. This would not be a huge immediate problem for those living on an ordinary island, which would have backup food reserves. But Ioco is no ordinary island. Its residence never had any reason to stockpile food, as the island always provided when they were hungry. An emergency meeting was held, and Ioco began to do what it had never done in its entire history. It built a boat. And then it did something even worse. It crewed said boat.
A crew of volunteers were to venture out beyond the living water barrier and gather supplies and food to sustain Ioco while the druids attempted to figure out the problem. You are those volunteers. For whatever reason, you have offered to leave Ioco, remaining in exile for the rest of your life. What you do with your life isn't important at the moment. Right now, all that matters is saving your home.
Info Dump
So, now that the hook is done, you might be a bit confused. What is Flowertime? What's this "living water barrier"? What even is Ioco? Don't worry, I'll get to all of that, and more. First, a bit about the lovely world you find yourselves in.
The World
Vraleon is not a typical planet. Rather than a big ball of rock with a bunch of water at the surface, it's the opposite. Vraleon is a massive ball of water, with little bits of earth floating at its surface. Vraleon's islands are not fixed in place, and instead float freely, occasionally colliding with each other or breaking and drifting apart. Islands rarely sink without someone purposely weighing it down, but there's not really any reason to do that anyways. Because of this feature, the world is largely unmappable, as islands are constantly moving around.
Religion
Vraleon has many, many deities, as each isolated civilization has its own pantheon, but for the most part everyone worships the same gods, with different names and appearances. You know the sun deity as Abuuraha, creator of this world. You know the moon deity as the bruised and beaten Halron, favorite pet of Abuuraha in the days before she sacrificed her life to become the sun and give mortals light and warmth and before he was attacked and hurled into the sky by the fearsome sea deity, Mehtep. You know the nature deity as the great tree Ralatoek, first living creation of Abuuraha. And you know other deities by other names, but I'm far too lazy to list them all out.
Magic
When Abuuraha created the first living creatures, she breathed a little of herself into each of her creations. Magic users access that bit of Abuuraha within them through a variety of ways, releasing it in infinitely variable forms, from giant balls of fire to smaller balls of fire to lines of fire to cones of fire to things that aren't fire but no one cares about those. Wizards unlock their magic via magical gestures, words, and rituals. Warlocks, paladins, and clerics channel another being's magic, either by making a pact with it or worshiping it. Druids and rangers channel the magic of the living world around them. Sorcerers can innately access their magic without aid. Bards vibe, and I guess magic happens? Bards are wacky.
Ioco
Ioco is the ever-giving isle. When desperate explorers first found it, almost 1000 years ago, when a storm caused them to go wildly off course, it seemed like a miracle. Because it kind of was. The island is surrounded by a pool of fresh water, kept separate from the salt water of the ocean by a swarm of strange, jellyfish-like creatures that seem almost like living water. Whenever any of its residents are in need, the island provides. Its trees grow massive, delicious fruits, and its forest is full of all kinds of delicious, easy to hunt game. When you cut down a tree, another grows in its place as fast as bamboo. Truly, it deserves its name. Er... deserved. Send me a PM with the word Barakuka to let me know if you've read everything.
Oh, also, its residents divide the year into four 90ish day sections, known as Flowertime(spring), Suntime(Summer), Leaftime(Fall), and Snowtime(Winter). There's probably more that I've forgotten, but I'll get to it when I remember it after the campaign has started.
The Game
So, I'm looking for a party of 4-5 PCs, starting at level 1. I'm hoping to level you all up relatively quickly, though, so don't worry. The game will be primarily exploration based, but there will be a healthy dose of combat and RP mixed in as well. The game will be relatively laid back, though I'm hoping for around one post per day(I might actually end up being the one who falls behind on this, though). I'm not gonna actually do anything to support that, but yeah. Keep it in mind I guess?
To submit a character, you just have to do one thing: don't. I've definitely not provided enough lore to allow you all to make detailed characters, so all you have to do is post here to let me know you're interested. I'll look through your message history and determine whether you'll be a good fit for the campaign. If you feel like your message history doesn't accurately portray your goodliness(that's definitely a word), or it just isn't long enough to show your goodliness(still definitely a word), send me a PM or something and we'll figure it out?
Alright, I probably forgot something essential, but I'm not gonna double check because I'm lazy!

I had mentioned my interest on your previous thread. Sounds like an interesting setting and look forward to see how it all plays out. Happy to play any class, but have been in healing or spell casting roles recently. Good luck choosing players & I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks!
100% this sounds awesome. I have actually played a campaign like this, but it was our own home-brew rpg, and it was a space themed game. we had crash-landed on a floating island that was going to be directly over a water volcano as it exploded.... we didn't actually make it BUT IT WAS FUN ANYWAY! :) this reminds me of the isle of pleasure from the Herculean myths.
sorry for the rambles, would love to join.

This sounds like a lot of fun, count me in if there's still room.
