Want to try an idea. Minotaur ranger. The thing I want to do if plausible is portal jump into a room before initiative. Use goring rush or hammering horn exiting portal. Think I came in like a wrecking ball, and have enough distance after doing to be a useful ranger. Is this a doable feat? I was thinking using the archtype horizon Walker and taking close quarter shooter to make it viable to use bow at 5ft.
it seems like a bit divided of a concept. if i remember right goring rush and/or hammering horn build off of strength. most ranged weapons even at close range use DEX.
horizon walker also uses alot of bonus actions so you will rarely have one available for goring rush's attack
if you really want to play a Minotaur ranger, Instead of trying bows at 5' (which would require dex and crossbow expert as an investment), I suggest using hand axes or javelins which can be thrown with strength.
Also remember teleporting isn't moving so it doesn't let you use goring rush. you could rush in attack then teleport away but misty step uses a bonus action and rangers try and save slots at least a little.
Probably the best way to build this is a shadow monk LVL6 you could take ranger at higher levels but probably not a horizon walker as you want to use more than one bonus action a turn.
